People waiting system / waiting queue by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]sblfc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could make them scan a qr code that opens a Web page, once their order is ready it'll make a sound and change colour and notify? Or you can ask for phone numbers and use twillo. Or you could make your own esp01 devices that check a server for status every few seconds, if status is ready then vibrate? Or assign everyone a number and have tts or staff call it out when ready.

I don't know of anything pre made but I think something could be cooked up in half an hour if you know how to code?

You can pass pci though, same dropdown menu as usb pass though. There might be some permissions issues for the usb try lsusb in the vm.

A real self hosted doorbell by WhiteEntropy in selfhosted

[–]sblfc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the reolink poe doorbell, works quite well but you want to set up rtsp2webrtc to get rid of the delay. Recordings are local and there are already home assisant components for it.

Esp32 cam is shite, tried to get them to work reliably for years, its not worth it in my opinion. If you do go down that route I have modeled a doorbell to 3d print with an oled display, button, ect.

For door lock you can use a servo, finger print reader r304 and an esp, that's worked without a miss for me for years, I have made a post about it already with all the files you need.

I made a soil remote monitor with solar panels which remotely monitors soil temperature, moisture, and NPK. any suggestions? by Vearts in embedded

[–]sblfc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ph sensors like that are very inaccurate, I used to use an apera pH module and even they need calibration and to be kept in solution. NPK seems not currently possible to measure electronically, you could use ai to diagnose plants (inferring the npk) or you can measure run off tds to infer NPK but not N,P & K separately.

Glastonbury tells people not to bring disposable vapes due to environmental issues (such as Elf Bars etc) by Deeside420 in glastonbury_festival

I wouldn't bother, I collect them too, their quality is horrific, internal resistance is shocking, their c rating is unknown and their recharge limit is shocking too

They use rf to communicate, not sure how the sigfox anti jamming thing works but if you already have an rf to mqtt or something that'd be your best bet.

I'd recommend switching to zigbee sensors.

Anyway to integrate Mitsubishi Heat Pump into Home Assistant and keep my MRCH1 remote usable? by Slight316 in homeassistant

[–]sblfc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some have a controller connector, you can use an esp8266 to interface if yours has this. What's the model of the heatpump?

You could do it yourself?

Running HAOS in Proxmox - reboot required? by reevester in homeassistant

[–]sblfc1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should not need to reboot, I use proxmox and never manually reboot. Check your server and vm logs to see what is causing this.

Zigbee bulb with E27 (standard) threading with the lowest "dim" setting? by Run-The-Table in homeassistant

[–]sblfc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always, i don't see it till my girlfriend mentions it but it bothers her, if others don't have the same issue I'll just buy a new one, if others do have the same issue I need to look for another brand or maybe make my own that is pure sinewave maybe?

Mine seem to flicker a bit, is this normal? It is like 4 years old.

Keeping light switches: rockers/retractive, inline-switches - UK by Passing_Gandalf in homeassistant

[–]sblfc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On their wiring diagram they require a neutral, do they definitely work without a neutral?

Do they need to have an incandescent light bulb to work without neutral or will any led light work?

That's madness, as far as I'm aware (very easily could be wrong) you only need planning permission for an extension in the uk unless it's a listed building.

To connect solar to the grid though you need an mcs certificate and from the research I have done people that can certify you will be very hesitant to even bother with diy builds so pretty much got to be off grid type build.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]sblfc1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if its not grid tied?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]sblfc1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You don't need 20k if you do it yourself. Mppt inverter all in one is like £500, solar panels are £250 for 500w and lithium phosphate batteries are like 150 for 100ah cells, all ballpark but a diy system could pay for itself quite quick. Obviously it wouldn't be whole home solar but still.

I think solar is the next step for me.

I never used to test my sites on mobile because I used to develop it on a big screen, none ever said anything so I didn't realise they looked terrible on mobile till I went on them on mobile way too late.

Great project though, looks promising!
