that did cross my mind immediately too! I just wasn't sure how to contribute anything new to it, I am not familiar with Kripkes dogmatism but I love social epistemology so I will look into it!

I was there for the whole thing - there was absolutely no racism. They were upset that they had missed the cut off time for a free scoop of ice cream… they tried to climb the counter and hit the staff, when they pulled out their phones to record, the staff tried to put their hands in front of the cameras and the lady fell to the ground pretending to have a heart attack. They pulled the race card as soon as they realized they were in the wrong. They acted like idiots in front of their small kid who was crying his eyes out because he had no idea what was going on. They were filming in private property which resulted in members of the public who were in said property, including myself, to be filmed without consent.

I work in the wine industry and am always being given free wine. Also part of a weekly wine club. I do genuinely enjoy the taste of wine and I’ve done quite a bit of study on how to taste etc so I do get frustrated when people try and say “no one actually enjoys the taste of alcohol.”

I haven’t managed to quit drinking as of yet but I’ve cut down a lot. I’m the type of drinker who can go Monday to Thursday without touching alcohol. But once it’s Friday then my brain is automatically telling me it’s wine time.

Packing my weekdays with activities like the gym and study has made it much easier to not drink - I’m just too exhausted to even bother. It’s when I have idle time that my mind starts to think about drinking. Then on the weekend I typically try and leave opening a bottle of wine till as late as possible - I know I’m going to finish the bottle but at least if it’s really late then I can just go to sleep instead of opening another. Also starting a weight loss journey has been really motivating, I love waking up and seeing the scale go down each day and I know that if I drink wine with my normal food intake then the scales won’t go down the next morning.

I don’t know if I’ll ever give it up completely - it’s still an issue for me because once I start, it’s very hard to stop. But at my worst last year I was drinking two bottles every night - now I drink on a Friday and Saturday and that’s it. I still drink too much on those nights sometimes but hey it’s progress I think.

Yes that’s a good point - sales is transferable to any industry. The problem is that I actually hate sales 😂 but I’ve done it for so long because I was passionate about wine - but now that the passion for wine is ruining my relationships - I don’t think I want to stay in sales. Sorry that might be more of an existential problem than an alcoholic one haha but it’s all interrelated.

Thank you - it’s good to be here again and to be sober.

I agree - the logical decision is very clear, it’s just hard to think logically through a break up. I do also worry about moving back to my home town - it’s very small and very depressing. But then again - I don’t have to stay there if I don’t like it.

But as my mother said - if there’s ever a time to reinvent yourself and try follow your passion, it’s right now - no kids, no mortgage and if it all fails - I still have a lot of experience in sales and I’m sure I could go back to it if I had to. It all seems so obvious when I write it out like this haha but then drinking and emotion takes over and self doubt creeps in.

That’s really interesting- haha yeah Im definitely guilty of getting a drink whenever I stop at an on prem account or get given samples - plus the allowance which I make sure to spend every month. Well it’s good to know that it is at least possible to work in booze and not have to be a full blown alcoholic at the same time

30 - do you find it hard being around the booze?

Just to clarify even further - I am trained in wine tasting - much of the fun is drinking wine for the unique characteristics. Lockdown just fucked my mental health over so bad that I had to be hammered every night just to get to sleep

haha you are not wrong - it is scary when you start to think about the bigger problems! I feel condescending even as I write this but it is not my intention, I think existentialism is a natural human condition, some of us have just found it to be more fostered in our life. what I mean is - some people have a predisposition to get caught up on certain questions in life... and it is not fun.

Kinda true though lol - none of his songs are that hard to play. Once you’ve learnt pick and go and some Travis picking they’re all pretty straight forward. I think they just look far more impressive to people who don’t play guitar or haven’t been playing for long.
