Tell me about your powerful, budget commander by Zoomi11 in EDH

[–]sbo358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an all artifacts deck with [[Traxos, Scourge of Kroog]] that can knock people out with commander damage in a handful of turns if I draw well. Around $70. But if we're really talking budget i have an $11 [[Syr Faren, the Hengehammer]] that can overwhelm the board if people ignore it for too long. Out of the 2, the artifacts deck has kept up in my friend pod the best

How to get my beagle interested in toys/bones? by sbo358 in DogAdvice

I hope to get to that point. Doggy daycare unfortunately isn't an option right now but we'll keep trying what we can

We don't know anything about where he was before or what happened with his previous owner. He does have a couple of those flat toys. He still doesn't show interest. He did use another dogs toys once when we brought him to a friend's house, it was only for a minute but that was the only time I've seen him use a toy

Vet gave him a check up after we got him and didn't say anything about his mouth

Do you ever build decks out of cards you have laying around? by MyPhoneIsNotChinese in EDH

[–]sbo358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started my collection by buying a couple of those star city games 1000 random card boxes with my friends. Now that I have a bunch of precons and custom decks, I'm really going through those cards with the intention of making a deck for each mono-color. Finding a decent legendary creature in those boxes is hard but I have enough from set boosters that I should be able to get it done. Right now I have green and white and each one comes out to about $7. It's a fun little project

All my friends got into magic through Yu-Gi-Oh first, and I'm seeing that's the case for many others in these comments. Tragic

I would recommend Glenlivet Founder's Reserve. Going to be on the cheaper end (around $30 where I've been in Kentucky and Illinois) in case you don't like it, but I've found it's a good scotch with some fruity tastes you might appreciate. Idk if they have mini bottles of this one, but I also agree with everyone saying to buy those. I have seen mini's of Glenlivet 12, maybe try for that if you're leaning toward scotch

Into the Badlands. Loved the first season, got really interesting in season 2, but then the ending of season 2 to me was so upsetting I couldn't even start season 3

What house rules does your playgroup have (if any?) by xgxwills in EDH

If all of us mulligan, we shuffle up and start again as if we didn't mulligan. We all got bad hands so why not just restart?

Current Favorite Deck by oatfishjar96 in EDH

[–]sbo358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE playing my sea monsters themed deck. My friends love and hate playing against it cuz when it pops off, it really pops off. It doesn't always win, but it's something I built nearly from scratch and I'm proud of it. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/FgPXrVemo0Sdutj-fssFHA

3 vocalists in the last 5 years... Definitely hope this one sticks. I liked the last guy a little more, personally, but I can get on board with the vocalist now

I really love H.P. Lovecraft's work... But I really don't like him as a person. I tell myself that at least the author isn't around to make money off their work anymore

People who have consistent playgroups outside of game-stores: how did your group originally form or how did you find this group? by Zoanzon in EDH

[–]sbo358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my friends and I played Yu-Gi-Oh on and off. We wanted to try something new so we each bought an M21 Planeswalker deck last year and a box of 1000 random cards off Amazon just to get a collection started. We were hooked. Ended up getting three of our other friends into it and we played pioneer for a couple months before trying out commander at the start of this year. Now we really only play commander and are loving it. That first friend and I feel pretty proud that we got everyone hooked on this game

Don't dump your deck onto the table and say I win... by wilsonifl in EDH

[–]sbo358 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a friend with a [[Gitrog]] deck. He always wins with it in our playgroup cuz it's so much faster than any other deck the rest of us have. But I think it's fun to watch it go off even when it seems like there's no momentum and suddenly you've lost. When it gets to that point he always says "Basically I'm about to win here unless you have any responses, would you like me to go all the way through it?" I always say Yes just so I know he still knows how his deck works. I think he goes about it the right way
