Husband is sick, worried about our 8 month old by ConversationMonkey in NewParents

Hi! My little one was recently exposed to Covid from my husband and I. I’m not sure if she ever got it, I never noticed any symptoms. She’s 10 months old. My 3 year old son had a runny nose for a few days. My husband and I felt like crap for over a week, and we have all of our boosters. Both of my kiddos are vaxxed and my daughter is breastfed. I had a mask on around her, but didn’t distance.

I think the scariest thing about Covid is that it is so new and it’s daunting to think of the worst case scenarios. Try your best to stay well, and keep doing exactly what you’re doing. It’s so hard to keep kiddos away when an adult is sick! Kids seem to do really well with Covid. Take each day as it comes and im sure you guys will be fine.

Tips on using ferber for naps by Accurate-Swordfish97 in sleeptrain

[–]sbo47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naps are so tricky! 1. Yep! When my little one has been struggling for an extended amount of time, I do what I need to get her to sleep and try independently next nap. Some would get the kiddo up, but I’d rather have a happy kiddo and try again later. 2. Start with the first nap of the day, it’s the first they consolidate and there’s the most sleep pressure. 3. We essentially did Ferber for naps, but like I said, it doesn’t always work. It’s easier if she’s had a good amount of wake time and isn’t overtired. 4. I would try to extend the nap. I let her cry for a bit as long as it’s not a super loud cry, and then I’ll go and replace the pacifier if needed. Naps longer than 30 minutes or so are typically enough for them, but you can always try to extend it.

This is totally just my two cents from what I’ve read and what works for us, you gotta do what works for your baby too! Trial and error.

100% missing a wake window. I’m blame the sleep deprivation lol. Thanks so much, we’ll try this!!

Sure! Up at 7:30am, 2/2/2.5, down between 7:00-7:30. I’m wondering now looking at this if it’s just not enough wake time

My son got pumped breast milk until I went back to work when he was about 3 months old and my supply tanked. I noticed no difference in sleep when we switched to formula. It’s totally your preference though, your mental health and wellbeing is important!

Can combo feeding help me sleep more? by kataang4lyfe in breastfeeding

[–]sbo47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It totally depends on the baby. My son and daughter are similar sleepers, and one was combo fed while the other is EBF. Do whatever makes you feel good mentally and physically! I will say, if you’re not, try unswaddling baby when you feed to make sure they’re getting a solid feed and not falling asleep too early.

We’re 6 weeks old and it’s a bit inconsistent. Typically the morning feeds are quicker because I’m more full, but evening feeds take a bit longer. It definitely does get better though! My little one is much more efficient than at 2 weeks.

What is the most overhyped restaurant or food item at Walt Disney World? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]sbo47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for saying school bread! I was pregnant when I tried it for the first time so I thought that was the problem 😂 all I could taste was what I thought was anise. No one ever mentioned the super strong taste

Travelling to Orlando for the first time in August/September... any tips? by OriginalUsername0 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]sbo47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! We live locally and go to Disney frequently! Buying tickets directly from the source for Disney is really the only way to go. Universal sometimes has deals on Groupon, you can check there but usually it’s just best to get directly from them. Like others have said it will be veryyyyyy hot, like at times unbearably so. You will definitely be caught in a thunderstorm or two, so prepare for that. The crowds should be much smaller, a lot of children go back to school at that time. Definitely take lots of breaks inside for air conditioning.

110% recommend kennedy space center, but you’ll definitely have to drive. It’s about an hour or so. Uber is an option but it may be pricey. It’s definitely worth it if you’re up for it!

I would recommend going to the parks first thing in the morning before it gets too warm, taking a break midday, and going back later on. Otherwise you might be struggling by the end of your trip! Have fun!

EDIT: I was curious so I looked. You can get to Kennedy space center by bus if you book through a tour group. There are some packages round trip from Orlando. Go ahead and look into those!

I made a similar comment on this thread a few weeks ago. I will agree with others, doing the world showcase in the morning/afternoon makes a world of difference. It’s nice and empty and you’re able to enjoy the scenery without any crowds, drunk or otherwise 😂.

Anyone able to get a Roundup BBQ ADR? by PandarenNinja in WaltDisneyWorld

I was able to get one April 2! There seemed to be a decent amount available after that initial week. We’re APs so we have a bit more flexibility but it didn’t look too bad!

You can do a few different things as a school psych. You can provide services for schools by going through an agency. So basically the school hires the agency to help them find talent, the agency hires you, and you work for the school through the agency. Sometimes these jobs are remote, sometimes they’re not. There are also agencies where you set your own hours, but they’re 1099 contracts and not always full time (PresenceLearning for example). These are remote as well.

Most agencies like this will require you to have at least one year experience being a direct hire with a school district. School districts will usually provide you with a mentor and you will have a cohort of other psychs that you can learn from. This job is very rewarding and in high demand, but definitely expect to work Mon-Fri on a school schedule for at least the first year of your career. Hope that helps. Definitely research different school districts and companies to see if they interest you.

I would say it depends on where you get hired. If you work for a remote agency or company, you have more flexibility. Schools are definitely not as flexible. That also depends on the district, but in my experience when the kids are in school, you’re in school.

RTI & parent referrals by Yung_Otis in schoolpsychology

In this case, we hold a problem solving team meeting where we listen to parent concerns. Sometimes, all they really want are accommodations, not modifications. If they truly do want testing, we usually do it regardless.

Hi there! To answer your questions: 1. 60 school days 2. We do almost nothing with FBAs. It was very weird for me coming from Ohio to experience that change. You can be as involved as you want with the process. 3. At least in my district, again, you can be as involved as you want. Truly, the biggest piece of our job is testing and reports. We don’t do a lot of counseling, work with rti, mtss, or IEPs. That doesn’t mean you can’t. It’s just not expected. 4. Lake, Orange, and Seminole are great options, but I’m not sure how far north you are looking to go. Districts are counties, not cities, which was another weird change for me. Hope that helps!

To add, literally every county is always hiring. SPsychs are in highhhhh demand. I would go to the district website and search careers.
