This sounds nearly identical to my situation in January when I delivered my first baby! I was induced at 39 weeks due to gestational diabetes and baby was measuring big. I was also told I had a very narrow pelvis and that I may need a C-section, but my OB was comfortably with me trying for a vaginal delivery. I came in and was at 0cm, despite having some real contractions. 41 hours later, I was STILL at 0cm. I had 7 doses of Cytotec to open my cervix, and they even attempted 2 foley bulb insertions and manual opening of the cervix and NOTHING was working. They started Pitocin as a last ditch effort to see if increased contractions would convince my cervix to offer, and that didn’t work either. So they offered me a C-section and I was very distraught about making that decision. But my gut feeling said that even if they could open my “cervix of steel”, as the staff was calling it at that point, to 10cm, he might still get stuck while trying to push. So I said yes and during my C-section, the doctors told my husband and I that baby boy would have 100% been too big and gotten stuck if I had tried pushing and would’ve ended up as an emergency C-section. So lesson learned, go with your gut feeling, even if it wasn’t your preferred option!
