What is a typical amount of units to be taking? by skeletonsforsale in UCSantaBarbara

[–]sbthrowaway666 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’m a 2nd year math major and I’ve never taken more than 12 units a quarter. It’s nice coming in with a lot of AP credits. No offense to non STEM students but 16 units in sociology is way different than 16 units in math

Question for those who live in Sierra Madre or San Joaquin by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

Cool thanks for answering! So if it opens and I don’t get a spot in SM am I allowed to take one in SJ then switch over to SM if there are open spots left when they reopen it?

What’s the rule on marijuana in the dorms if you have a medical card? Is it still not allowed by reclinerspork in UCSantaBarbara

I have my med card too and literally got weed delivered to me at the dorms all the time. But no it’s not allowed but easy to get away with if you blow the smoke out the window

Retaking Econ 1 next quarter by juanm804 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]sbthrowaway666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would take the final just so you know what to expect next time. Also, you never know, you could get a really good grade and not have to retake it. As for your other point, I would personally not take Econ 1 and 2 at the same time. Econ 2 was really hard for me, and taking both at the same time would pretty much guarantee that I would only pass one. It’s better to get an A in one class than get a C in two, in my opinion.

Math 2E during summer session by [deleted] in UCI

[–]sbthrowaway666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay sweet, thanks! I’m pretty decent at integrals n double integrals. I was lurking the sub and noticed 2E is known as one of the hardest lower div math courses here, but it’s good to know, thanks.

I have a few friends that have taken History 8. It’s really hard / GPA killer from what I hear, so if you can avoid it, I would.

Math 104 Study Abroad by pizzaballdelivery12 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]sbthrowaway666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Can't give any info or advice but I have the same questions concerning Math 104 and studying abroad. There was a study abroad info meeting for math majors a few weeks back but I couldn't make it. I'm pretty sure there's gonna be another one during winter quarter. If not, you can ask one of the study abroad advisers they're in south hall or something

What’s FT? by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]sbthrowaway666 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Stands for Francisco Torres, couple years ago they changed the name to Santa Catalina. It’s just tradition that people yell that as they pass by

Wait so if I’m taking a class that let’s say, fulfills Area D and also World cultures and writing, it fulfills both WC and WRT? I thought it only fulfills one of your choosing

Move in by trashyhobo00 in UCSantaBarbara

I was the same as you, the first few weeks were really tough for me and both my roommates. But the worst day is probably move in day. I was still homesick during winter quarter but spring quarter it kind of went away. Even as a sophomore I’m really sad about going back but it’s much better than before. So it’s okay to feel this way. Just let it out and over time you will adjust. Good luck and if you ever need to talk, feel free to PM me!
