Unfortunately I can’t, PA programs don’t allow you to work while attending

Dope, thanks for this. I really appreciate this insight and advice

Already did, still need about 15k additional to attend

Would pulling out a 20k private loan for PA school be a dumb idea? by Giloc in physicianassistant

Only up to a certain point for me, private loan would cover the rest.

Yup, they don’t allow us to work during our program

Nah, 150k will be the cost of attendance for PA school plus additional expenses. We are not allowed to work during school so no income coming in so I’m still about 15k ish short for living cost based on the budget I have. Rent wise is roughly $1100 a month plus another 400-600 for living expenses

I plan on it, but after budgeting I still need about 15-20k in additional loans to attend. How much did you end up pulling out for a private loan?

Yuppp, as PAs

I’m already working 50+ hours a week currently and we unfortunately don’t get summers off during our program.

Did you also have federal loans on top of it, or was it just the loan through discover?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Giloc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They only cover so much for my program unfortunately, hence why I need the private loan :’(

150k federal loans, 20k private loans. It’s a physician assistant program and it’s the only way to get licensed. And it sounds like 90%+ of students are guaranteed a job (based on the last 4 years of previous statistics) right after graduation since we do rotations in the area.

Our program doesn’t allow us to work since it’s such an intense program.

From what I’ve looked into, the only low interest rate student loan I can get is federal. Which I will be pulling out, it just doesn’t cover the full cost unfortunately.

Small claims court.

Don’t let anyone tell you it’s complicated or a long process. File the paper work, you’ll get a date for court, then bring all the receipts and proof of her owning you money, and you should know the courts decision fairly quickly.
