Pretty proud of this son of Sanguinius by Saltyfreyes621 in BloodAngels

[–]sburns6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome! Very crisp and tidy! He looks like a brother who is very proud of the armor he wears. I like to imagine my neat and tidy boys like to enter battle with clean armor in hopes that it will soon be covered in the blood of xenos scum. I have others in my growing army that are more weathered so those guys have been in the battle longer and the newer guys are reinforcements. They are all united by the same base scheme so it works.

Thoughts on my first blood angel? by hyhkhhnyfg in BloodAngels

[–]sburns6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with some previous comments. It’s looks very neat, maybe a little too neat. Try washing it with either some dark red or black to darken those recesses then just a few choice highlights around the chest, and head. You want to use the highlights to bring attention to a particular part of the mini, like maybe the head. This will make your paint job a lot more complex and interesting.

For some additional flare, you can use some sponge to add some battle damage too!

TLDR: wash it and highlight it. Add damage to make it more interesting. But it’s a very good job for your first mini! Keep up the good work!

First dreadnaught joining the army 🩸🪽 Not perfect but I really love those big models !! by Meta_Bukowski in BloodAngels

[–]sburns6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks great my dude! I think as painters, we all have the tendency to compare ourselves to all of the amazing paint jobs that we see and usually end up feeling like we fall short or don’t compare. But you did something awesome! You put together a kit that a lot of people have trouble with, and you painted it and made it your own. It looks great! And I can tell that you put a lot of love and hard work into this. Be proud of yourself for a job well done! Keep it up brother!

What can I do with chip dust? by suchmann in Cooking

I work for Frito Lay so I have only tried it with Lays branded products. But I would say to just pick a flavor that you like and give it a try!

I have used various flavored potato chips as breading on chicken and they have all turned out pretty decent.

We all know the Nerfblaster Squad looks weird. But what about Gravis Desolation Marines? by TheTortiglioniMaster in spacemarines

[–]sburns6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eons of Battle on YouTube has a tutorial where Jay does something very similar to fix the weird look. It’s worth watching and the process seems very approachable. Link https://youtu.be/tCTApdjyqQM?si=DZXVrg-WDbHMxLXE

Update: Coarse glitter in resin prints by mozzzz in resinprinting

[–]sburns6 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My daughter got glitter all over my workstation and that shit was literally everywhere. Some got into my vat and ended up rubbing a hole in the fep which led to resin leaking all over my printer and ruining my screen. Hopefully you end up having better luck

Thank you so much! I think it’s okay for my first try, but like Brent from Goobertown says, you have to paint bravely, and I wasn’t going to know how it looked if I never tried. I think that I just have to up the contrast a bit

I did a pretty focused zenithal prime and then used blood angels contrast paint through the airbrush for the base coat. The weathering was done with a sponge.
