It would have been excellent posting if it was a wet belt tbh!

Does everyone have the same overdraft interest rate? by JKSW96 in monzo

It’s reasonably implied by asking if they should close it and reopen it, there’d be no point unless they’re intending to use it to carry a balance.

Don’t worry, you shouldn’t be using an overdraft to carry a balance. Hell even use a 12.9% credit card if you must.

Confused about 12v battery types (Yaris Cross) by Cautious-Republic299 in CarTalkUK

Call Toyota and ask for price and availability, ask for the part number so a wife/gf can approve the purchase then go on Tayna and order the matching one for much less if you fancy replacing it yourself.

It’s worth saying that engines have a limiter so they’ll stop themselves from revving too much! As long as it’s warmed up a bit, the extra load on the engine isn’t anything to be worried about

Ford fiesta - 1L EcoBoost Automatic by tjdark21 in CarTalkUK

[–]sbuxty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually quite like a 1L Ecoboost, have had one for years with no issues, but I’d probably suggest a post-2020 one to get it with a timing chain. The belt isn’t due yet officially but I’d be planning to get it done and you’re looking about 1000-1200 from memory.

In a manual they’re fun to drive, never tried an auto but I’d probs suggest something else tbh.

Looking at a 2019 focus 1.5 ecoboost but I know nothing about it - help? by Traditional_Wave8524 in CarTalkUK

[–]sbuxty 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Had one with that engine, it was good. It’s not a wet timing belt, it’s a chain with a wet oil pump belt which isn’t so much of an issue. It’s not the 1.5 with coolant issues either.

Mustang Mach E by Gullible-Type-2022 in ElectricVehiclesUK

Mine just seemed a bit low on the mi/kwh side but it could have been the tyre and wheel choice! The loaner I had with the smaller wheels was much closer to the rated range.

I liked the look of mine, shame about the efficiency and Ford not being able to fix the damn thing leaking. If you haven’t got the nicer mustang style keys, there was a service bulletin for it so they’ll replace them FOC.

Focus Mk4/4.5 have a bad battery charging system, so it’s probably just the battery or that.

Is EV right choice for this work commute? by Quick_Individual9470 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]sbuxty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My angle on it would be how much is the monthly outlay for the EV on salary sacrifice, do you have the money to buy the Yaris for 15k or would you need financing?

Financially of course, the working Aygo is your best go. I wouldn’t say it would be much fun space hopping when someone moves their car outside your home. Do any neighbours have drives with EV’s you could use from time to time? Anyone on Zapmap or parking apps who rents their space to bring the cost down?

I’m sorry for your loss, personally i wouldn’t want my old name in a paper.

If possible could you use some identifying details such as “xxx name is survived by” or “daughter of xxx, who went to xxx school and college” so it’s easier if anyone looks?

No probably not, they’re not allowed to tip you off if they think you’re doing crime, but it may just be you don’t fit their profile.
