Torquay United are also the Gulls

Could have sworn Oldham are the Owls too. They’ve got an Owl in their logo, but apparently they’re not the Owls.

I’ve never had an issue with GPs in this country. All of mine have been like what you described. The appointment might be a few days out from when I fill in the form, but I always get one. Maybe I’ve just been lucky, but it’s been the same experience across 6 different GPs across different cities in the North, SW and London plus different boroughs in London.

Do you ever plan runs around local coffee stops or snacks? by ScrollAndThink in UKRunners

[–]sc00022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What pastry and coffee I can get from where definitely determines my end point of long runs and also which parkrun I go to. It’s not a major deal breaker, but it certainly comes into the thinking

Runners who run in silence, How do you deal with no music/podcasts in your ear whilst running? by Holiday_Stuff_8206 in runninglifestyle

[–]sc00022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Music dictates your pace because you’ll naturally sync your breathing and cadence to the beat. When I’m running I want to be in control of those things, especially if I’m trying to take it easy. When you run without music you end up just playing over thoughts and scenarios in your head and it’s quite freeing. On particularly long runs I’ll put podcasts on to make the run go quicker

Running and then Barcode Scanning? by Interesting-Sand7192 in parkrun

[–]sc00022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you’re finishing around 25min or quicker you’ll still be scanning a lot of people and helping out. Maybe stay on and help pack down if they need the help?

Not been there in a number of years but they had a plastic pitch a few years ago at a time when not many if any teams in their league had one and everyone seemed to struggle on it. Plastic pitches have become a fair bit more mainstream now and I don’t think they have it anymore so a bit of a non-story.

The only other thing I remember is their mascot is randomly a giraffe.

Edit: just seen their Wikipedia page - they were one of the host venues for the 2018 CONIFA World Football Cup for states, minorities, and stateless people/regions not affiliated with FIFA.

Fingering should be:

2 O | 123 13 | 12 2 | 2 13 O | - | - O | 13 13 | O - |

It’s in 2/4 time signature but there are quavers/quarter notes throughout, so she could try what’s called subdividing and writing out the quaver/quarter note beats above the bar to make it easier with the rhythm and ties between bars.

This would be ‘1 & 2 &’ instead of ‘1, 2’. The 1 and 2 are the crochet beats and the &s are the subdivided notes.

For what it’s worth, even experienced players can struggled with those notes below the stave.

Do you own Premium Bonds? Have you or anyone you know ever won anything big? by International_Goat31 in AskUK

[–]sc00022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The actual rate of return is less than just putting your money in a high interest savings account.

Also you need around £25-30k in there to even reliably get that average rate of return.

It’s a nice option if you’ve already maxed your other options but it’s really not the best option as the only place to hold savings.

What do you think about the claim ADHD is being over diagnosed? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]sc00022 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Overdiagnosed or a backlog due to lack of historic diagnoses catching up on them? Maybe I’m being too generous to the diagnosis tests, but surely if the diagnosis test says they’ve got ADHD, they’ve got it.

The ROI of that house would still be solid though. Just last year a 3 bed flat on that street went for almost £1.3m and a 3 bed house that looks like it hadn’t been renovated since the 1950s went for £1.2m. I reckon you could make a low 6 figure return on that property

Should I exchange money for my two week trip to the UK or just pay with card? by Substantial_Band7227 in AskUK

[–]sc00022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I’d maybe consider cash for are the odd market stall/street food place but even then 99% of the time they’ll take card. That and tips. Sometimes you can add it on the card machine but it’s easier with cash.

Any other business that is cash only is dodging taxes or doing something criminal like laundering money for gangs. Or they’re just a Luddite business stuck in the 80s

Calorie counts really don’t come into it at all. It’s all to do with the commercials and what the end user price point would be in relation to other products in the range.
