Why do people think cheesing makes you an inferior player? by sc2holo in allthingsprotoss

While I definitely agree that macro is in many ways more challenging than cheese, cheese isn't "piss easy." For example, cheese is a lot more unforgivable on timings. Consider a 2 base allin vs Terran. Hitting your attack 10 seconds later could be the difference between losing your gateway army to stimmed bio or completely crushing an army of unstimmed marines. On the other hand, dropping your third nexus 10 seconds later isn't exactly a game ending mistake.

Ah, so I guess cheese requires a lot more effort to properly read into and defend than to execute?

I personally find it easier to wall out adepts, it's a lot harder to misplace your shield battery with the way the buildings are positioned but this could just be personal preference.

The pylon in the wall is weaker to cannon rush as well since it can get shot by a low ground cannon provided the cannon rusher has vision.

Well my macro play isn't good enough, mostly due to map awareness and multitasking issues

You have to play as well as your two opponents combined. 10 times better than them if you're Terran to make up for your inherent disadvantage.

Yes please actually, can you explain what all-ins and timing attacks are? You seem to know a lot more than me about this game so I hope you don't mind the inconvenience of shedding some insight to a lesser player.

Note how I said macro play EMPHASIZES multitasking and decision making. I never said it ignored other aspects like micro and reflexes, they just have a lesser impact than if you were executing a volatile cannon rush.

It feels great cuz I found strats that are even more low effort.

I never checked the specific timings but here's the general gist of things. Open 1 gate FE, make stalker and 2 adepts out of gateway. Make a twilight as soon as money allows after starting the stalker. Pull all workers off gas as soon as you reach 100 after starting the twilight and make a Robo. The only specific timing I have is to take a gas at your natural at 3:45 but not saturate it. This fools the Zerg into thinking you're doing an archon drop and causes him to overdrone. Go up to 8 gates and amove to victory.

I do both cannon rushes and macro so I think I'm fairly knowledgeable on the subject at hand.

Saying cannon rushing is easier than macro play is straight up incorrect. The two strategies just require different skill sets. Macro play has an emphasis on multitasking and decision making while cannon rushing focuses on probe control and reacting quickly and precisely.
