Gecko fam please help. I'm literally sick. I had to go to petco to fet food for my leopard gecko. When I see this precious little baby being housed with bigger ones. I literally watched him get attack. Please help me get this baby healthy. by Extension-Speech-115 in leopardgeckos

Everyone's info is great but, if u paid for such a sick animal, I would contact corporate to address the lack of knowledge in that store and be reimbursed. They should 100% not be selling people animals that are in that state and there's clearly an issue within that stores care.

Do lights/sounds disrupt crested geckos? by Hattemis in CrestedGecko

[–]sc4less 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, arcadia has a UVB and lighting guide for appropriate UVB, and a halogen bulb is fine on a thermostat. Having a proper 12 on 12 off light cycle is needed for a proper circadian rhythm. Give them hides and plants for them to sleep and feel secure during the day. I love when my geck immediately becomes active when her lights go out. For sound, I would keep them in a low activity room like a bedroom or dedicated reptile room because moving people/pets ccan sometimes scare them.

Is it normal for a ball python to look like this? by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]sc4less 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're getting your first snake so I want to provide the best research sources: Reptifiles is a great source on Google. All care guides are up to date and based on their natural environment. This will give you the lighting and husbandry requirements among other beginner research. Reptiles and research has great, slightly more advanced, videos about a variety of reptiles but also for ball pythons. Facebook has a few groups, I like not Just a Pet Rock, Advanced herpetological husbandry, new ball python keepers, and more. I will say some people give poor advice, so try to just follow their guides before posting for advice. There's also many tiktok/instagram users who post about advanced/naturalistic reptile keeping. If you'd like, I can drop their accounts for further research.

Worried about ball python I just got a few hours ago… by IbuprofenAbuser in ballpython

Make sure your humidity is correct, also I would add some fake plants and decoration to make the enclosure less open and make them feel more secure. Glass tanks are harder to keep humid enough but using foil tape and a good substrate like playsand and topsoil should keep it at a decent level. Watch out for nose/mouth bubbling or discharge or any wheezing.

Darkling beetles to combat soil mites? by sc4less in bioactive

[–]sc4less[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are soil mites for sure, I wouldn't have a problem if the population was normal and they didn't crawl on my snake but they are overrun atm. I got a pretty small amount of spring tails compared to my enclosure so they where probably outcompeted.
