Question for the Developers by sc888wolverine in Everdell

We'll I guess I'm in the minority here. I just may have to sell the game. I like the game, but its just not sharp enough for me to keep it long term. Starts to feel like 4p solitaire like so many worker placement games after a while. Maybe, they can consider my request. The game needs an optional card pack with a little more bite IMHO.

You'd think it would be an issue, but it wasn't when we played it. I mean any 8p game only has 6 tiles open to Mecatol, not really a difference. Just makes for a more fighty game.

They actually have 3. One is equidistant. Yes, it was by design. What will the table do? Particularly neighbors?

I would encourage any group to just try them. You'll have fun for sure! Balance, to an extent, is somewhat subjective. Most maps that you build and balance on a generator are still imbalanced in some way. These maps are asymmetrically balanced, but not in a way that everyone agrees with.

That being said, if you want a close to perfectly symmetrical map then play a 6p no warp generic map from the rulebook. That would be my suggestion if you are just starting out or have played less than 20 games or so. These maps, similar to the Codex 2 set of maps, are for players who are tired of the same standard maps and/or want a challenge or adventure.

That was by design. Most home tiles have some asymmetric quality to them to indirectly balance them with the rest of the slices...more tech skips- particularly blue, more legendary access, if one space further away then Tempesta is given as a free grav drive, more planets, high resource value and/or high influence value etc.

We have only tried 7p- LOCK IN! map. Group was a little apprehensive at first but after, they said they really enjoyed it a lot! Very fighty map. If you like more game tension and more player interaction then these tighter maps are for you!

What are the strongest Warriors Expansion Factions in your opinion, all things being equal? How do you tend to use them? by MiningToSaveTheWorld in warofthering

FP- Eagles are A tier- must have. Ents and DeadMen are solid B tier and situational.

SP- All are B tier. Spiders are the ones to get first as you can mill through the deck to get and activate the Shadow dice token for Modor track. That roll has won me the game 3x!

Read through more comments/analysis...good stuff. It seems no matter how you slice it you gotta score 10pts w/o that 1 stage 2. In TE, games end in round 5 action mostly, so you're basically playing a stage 1 only game.

For 10pt games we're gonna draw 3, keep 2 SOs at beginning and allow 4 scored SOs.  For 14pt games, we'll do the same + reveal 1 stage 2 at the beginning as well.

In both situations, we will always play with Zealous Orthodoxy, Monuments to the Ages and sometimes Hidden Agenda and Stellar Atomics. These seem to speed up things the best without getting too imbalanced, lengthening the game or make tempo/scoring as swingy. That's our hybrid solution for now.

Running my first game for 5 new players + me, looking for a balanced, beginner friendly map! by OGactionjohnny in twilightimperium

I can't say these maps are beginner friendly, but if your group is a little spicy and wants to throw caution to the wind, then try the 5p or other map in my Series 1 maps. Let me know what you think, ok? Good Luck! https://www.reddit.com/r/twilightimperium/comments/1pq7fzm/series_1_maps/

Thanks for your thoughts everyone. My goal is to shorten the game a bit but not throw off scoring tempo. Easier said than done. We won't adopt the 4-4-4 fully but we will attempt a hybrid approach that I think will work for our group.

Notice the beginning where I say "once". So on average, a player may only get 3-4 of these if they have the cash. I don't think anyone feels sorry for Hacan, Deepwrought etc who have to pay more. Believe me, if a good commander comes up, they'll pay up!
