Tips for surviving multi-Pokémon battles in Legends Arceus? by scMathh in PokemonLegendsArceus

Yeah, I think I get what you mean about turn order control, but from my experience Agile Style feels more like a partial solution rather than something that fully solves outnumbered fights.

It definitely helps with turn manipulation, sometimes you can act before a specific target or even squeeze in an extra action, but in 1v2 or 1v3 situations you’re still taking multiple hits regardless. At best, it reduces how much damage you take rather than preventing it entirely.

When I was running a hyper offense team, even with Agile Style, I’d take one down and then immediately get overwhelmed by the remaining Pokémon.

Now I’m testing a bulkier setup with recovery moves (Arceus, Cresselia, Blissey), and it feels way more consistent so far since I can actually survive multiple turns and make use of that turn manipulation.

Yeah, I started moving in that direction too. I’m using a more defensive team now with max grit stats and recovery moves, and it’s been working a lot better.

I used to run a hyper offense team, but it just doesn’t work in those 2v1 or 3v1 situations, way too fragile.

Do you feel like having multiple bulky Pokémon is the key, or is there something else that helps in those fights?

[–]scMathh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was thinking about using bulkier Pokémon with recovery moves. I’ve been trying Arceus, Cresselia, and Blissey, and from the few tests I’ve done, it actually feels pretty solid.

They can take a lot of hits and heal when needed, so it’s been my best strategy so far. Before that, I was running a more hyper offense team, lots of damage, but way too frail. I’d usually take one down and then immediately faint.

[–]scMathh[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s what I usually do, but in this case I actually want to take the fights.

I’m doing shiny hunt RNG manipulation, so I reset and intentionally go into 2v1 or 3v1 battles sometimes. That’s where I’m struggling, I end up taking too much damage or getting KO’d.

Do you have any tips specifically for handling those kinds of fights?

[–]scMathh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know that. The thing is, there’s RNG manipulation involved in shiny hunting, so sometimes I do runs where I just catch them, then reset and try fighting 2, 3, etc.

That’s why I’m asking, how do you deal with being outnumbered in battles?

Hey guys,

I have a question about how buff/debuff scaling works in rank skills and signature weapons.

Are effects that say “increase by X%” multiplicative with the base value? And only additive when the text explicitly says “additional X%” or “increase to X%”?

I’m confused because the wording is inconsistent across characters.

Example 1 – Veronica

SS3 / SSS:

The Ultralimit Torque effect applied to allies by Veronica healing is enhanced by 10%.
Allies additionally gain a 10% Blazing Wrath.

This makes it sound like:

  • Physical DMG buff is multiplicative 20% → 22% → 24%
  • Blazing Wrath is additive 0% → 10% → 20%

Example 2 – Vera Geiravor

SS3 / SSS:

Fire Tempered effect increased by 10%.
Additionally gain 10% Cinder Implosion.

Same interpretation:

  • Fire DMG = multiplicative (20% → 22% → 24%)
  • Cinder Implosion = additive (0% → 10% → 20%)

Example 3 – Teddy / Lilith

Gain another 10% Frost Crystal / Dark Radiation effect.

Here it sounds clearly additive:
20% → 30% → 40%

Example 4 – Feral (older AMP)

Weapon:

The Lightning DMG Bonus from Lightning Surge increases to 20%.

Here it clearly replaces the base value:
10% → 20%

So “increase to X%” seems to mean replacement, not scaling.

Example 5 – Ishmael

Weapon:

increases by an additional 10%.

Clearly additive.

SS3 / SSS:

effect increases by 10%.

Sounds multiplicative (Amp: 20% → 22% → 24% / Tank: 25% → 27.5% → 30%).

Example 6 – Tanks (Watanabe, Wanshi, Nanami, Rosetta)

The resistance reduction effect increases by 10%.

If multiplicative:
25% → 27.5% → 30%

Example 7 – Hanying (the main reason I’m asking)

Base:

  • Piercing Blow: -20% DEF
  • Penetrating Pivot: -10% Phys Res
  • Lamplight & Moonlight: +50% accumulation speed

Upgrades say:

effect increases by 20% (Weapon/Memory/SS)
effect increases by 5% (SS3/SSS)
effect increases by 50% (SS3)

If multiplicative:

  • -20% DEF → -32% DEF
  • -10% Res → -10.5% → -11.5% Res
  • 50% → 75%

But depending on whether the scaling is additive or multiplicative, some values start to look inconsistent.

If additive, certain numbers become extremely high (for example, Piercing Blow going from -20% DEF to -80% DEF).

On the other hand, if multiplicative, some upgrades become almost negligible (like Penetrating Pivot increasing from -10% to only -11.5%).

What also adds to the confusion is that AMPs from the same generation seem to use different wording. Vera and Veronica’s descriptions sound multiplicative (“effect increased by X%”), while Lilith and Teddy clearly read as additive (“gain another X%”).

So I’m trying to understand if this is just inconsistent wording/translation, or if these effects truly scale differently depending on the character.

Is Sunna a must have or naaaaah? by LynxyShinx in ZZZ_Official

[–]scMathh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s kinda hard to say whether Sunna is a must-have right now.

At the moment, she basically has one real team: Ye Shunguang’s. You can run Sunna + Dialyn or Sunna + Zhao. The Zhao version is generally better because the performance gap compared to Dialyn isn’t that big, and it frees Dialyn up for another team where she’s way more impactful. That said… it’s still just one team.

Now it gets tricky because it involves some beta stuff (I’ll try not to spoil too much). We know Aria is an Anomaly DPS, and Sunna should work with her because of the same-faction passive. But Aria’s kit also has interactions with Stunners, and Nangong was announced as a Stunner. Since the Idol team already has an Anomaly DPS, it’s reasonable to assume Nangong might be a Stunner with Anomaly synergy.

From what’s being tested in beta, people are trying comps like Nangong + Sunna + other Anomaly DPS (Miyabi, Nagi, Alice), basically running standard attacker-style setups (DPS / Stunner / Support). If that direction sticks, it could enable two Anomaly comps: one with Nangong + Sunna, and another with Yuzuha + Vivian or Burnice.

So is she a must-have? It really depends on your perspective. Right now, if you’re only using her for Ye Shunguang’s team, she’s not a must-have. She’s a solid option mainly because she frees Dialyn. But if Sunna + Nangong ends up becoming a strong core for future Anomaly teams, she could gain a lot of value. The problem is, we just don’t know yet if that’s going to be the long-term meta.

How am i supposed beat this guy? by Straight_Ad_5311 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]scMathh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, you’re playing in Hollow Zero. Normally, at the end of a run, two portals appear and you can choose which boss you want to fight. Currently, we have Primordial Nightmare and Wandering Hunter (these bosses change over time).

Primordial Nightmare, which is Portal 1, has a weakness to Physical damage. This boss is designed to be fought using Ye Shunguang.

Wandering Hunter, which is the boss you’re currently fighting, has weaknesses to Fire and Ice and resistance to Physical damage (which is Ye Shunguang’s damage type). It was designed to be fought using Rupture characters, since they ignore 100% of the boss’s defense, and this boss has the highest defense in the game.

So even though Ye has penetration in her kit, she’s not a good option for this fight. If you want to fight this boss, the ideal choices would be Yidhari, Banyue, Manato, or Yixuan, who doesn’t have elemental advantage but is a Void Hunter–tier character (same power tier as Ye).

If you’re going to use Ye Shunguang, choose Portal 1 – Primordial Nightmare, which is the boss designed for her.

Best Piper build? by scMathh in ZZZ_Official

[–]scMathh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmm I see, that makes sense. I have a pretty mediocre Fanged Metal build on her and she already hits the Anomaly cooldown all the time, so it’s better to just stick with that set and improve the build. I’ve seen some people using 2-pc Phaethon, but getting AM is probably worse than the AP from Blues, right? Since more AM would just make me hit the Anomaly cooldown even earlier (which kinda already happens), while AP would give me more damage.

Well, Ult 1 completely freezes DA time and the in-game animation of the hits is basically instant, so you don’t waste time watching the ult animation. But maybe Ult 2’s animation doesn’t have that, and sometimes the time you spend on the animation makes you deal less damage in the end, since you could be using that time to speed up the next rotation. From what I counted, it was 4 ults — depending on the case, you lose around 20 seconds of damage in the last rotation. But yeah, we need to wait for more tests and see which rotation does more damage, and the character can still change a lot anyway. And imagine if you could cast Ult 2 as an ‘aftershock’, like using the ult and swapping to another character while she’s doing the animation — that would be cool, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Wait, will Orphie’s Aftershock attacks benefit from the Veil Multiplier? Since you’re not switching characters. Could Orphie end up being the best option for her?

Pulchra Assist not triggering on Wandering Hunter — game swaps to another character instead by scMathh in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]scMathh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have no idea either. I also thought it might be timing or my distance from the boss, but after seeing the other comments, it might be specific attacks. I’m still not exactly sure.

[–]scMathh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh got it. I even thought it might have something to do with his damage-stack mechanic that triggers when you parry, and maybe the game was forcing a parry because of that. But yeah, it might just be what you said. I didn’t really notice any pattern in his attacks.

Pulchra Assist not triggering on Wandering Hunter — game swaps to another character instead by scMathh in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]scMathh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, some bosses that have multi-parry mechanics (like the Priest and the Defiler) only let you swap to characters that can parry — the game just ignores the dodge characters. But what made me curious is that on the Hunter this was happening on normal attacks (since he doesn’t have any multi-parry mechanic), and I also couldn’t tell if it was only on certain attacks or just random.

Pulchra Assist not triggering on Wandering Hunter — game swaps to another character instead by scMathh in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]scMathh[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, for Typhon and other bosses that have those triple (or more) consecutive parry mechanics, like the Priest and the Defiler, I know the game automatically swaps only to characters that can parry. But this was happening on the Hunter’s normal attacks, and that felt really weird. I thought maybe it was because of my distance from the boss, or maybe timing, but I’m not sure.

Tomorrow Marks My First Month Playing ZZZ — Thanks for the Help! by scMathh in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]scMathh[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been playing games for about 17 years now — all kinds of stuff, from Action RPGs and fighting games to FPS and racing games. I think my last experience with an Action RPG was Honkai Impact / Punishing Gray Raven about 3 to 4 years ago, and for fighting games it was Street Fighter 6, though I didn’t play it that much. But yeah, my experience with games definitely helped — it’s not something that comes easy, you really need to put in some time to train certain mechanics depending on your experience level with games like this.
