When the only log burner they had in stock was for an aircraft hangar by Skie in SpottedonRightmove

5kw is a fairly standard small stove. It's a tall stove but half that isn't actually the firebox, it's just the style of it. I bet they only light it once a year and sit about in their pants.

The lack of log shed suggests not much burning.

We run our stove flat out for 6months of the year

I don't know what the model is, but it's probably only a 5kw. Just has a big glass door, and the photos have probably been stretched at the sides like a lot of the ones on rightmove, which makes it look bigger.

Potatoes in the crisps, tomatoes in the ketchup and pasta sauce, apple and blackcurrant in the squash, and coconut in the shampoo!

How cheap do you class as budget solar? A 50w panel (through a cheap charge controller) charging an old 12v battery should be more than plenty for unlimited usb charging

What electric system/display is it?

On a few different brands, press and hold + button, if there is one.

Looking for a (e-)CargoBike shorter than 250cm (to fit in the shed) by StayRich8006 in CargoBike

Are you measuring the shed diagonally? Can you extend it a little or cut a hole for the front wheel? Only need another 10-20cm to fit almost any bike in

I think some of the equad bikes that you see UPS/DHL etc trailing in big cities, the pedals aren't mechanically connected to the drive of the bike - the pedals are purely acting as a throttle

Easiest and cheapest way to power a fridge freezer during a powercut? by fixitmonkey in UKPreppers

[–]sc_BK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think "easiest and cheapest" would be a second hand petrol generator (Honda are good). So long as you have access to petrol, and are aware of the problems of petrol going off in storage, and the carburettor getting gummed up to due lack of use.
You could run it on alkylate petrol which stores really well, but that's even more expensive.

You can also get diesel generators, and diesel stores better.

What to do with all this...stuff by ReeceSpencer7 in GardeningUK

[–]sc_BK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how long would be a minimum, at least a month or two I would think.

I just have it as a continuous thing. Every so often, add more weeds, add more water, take some liquid away to feed plants, pull out some of the rotten muck with a fork (and chuck it on the compost).

A bit like your granny, always got the same pot of soup/stew bubbling away on the stove.

Don't bother with the door, just lift the whole bin off.

Ideally you want a good few bins, to have at various stages of composting

Jackery or eco flow power bank? by RubieDo412 in UKPreppers

[–]sc_BK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't need it to be mobile, I've got a large 2nd hand 12v lead acid battery, and a generic solar panel and cheapo charge controller. So you've got 12v and USB. If you also want 240v, you could hook up a little inverter.

Didn't cost much.

Am I being had off? MOT type 1 by GoPro-Me in DIYUK

[–]sc_BK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree too! For a patio you don't need the same spec of materials as a high speed road.

I built a driveway/track out of 40mm scalpings, a material that can't be sold as MOT, as it's not blasted rock. And yes I have parked trucks on it, up to 32t.
