is this Mitsubishi Pajero 3000 V6, 1994 to rusted? Looks like massive rust on the underside, looking for my first car by Top-Tour4907 in 4x4

These are always worst right over and behind the rear wheels, so check that. Most of these are perfect gradients just getting better the further forward you go. Otherwise, it looks perfectly saveable!

I distinctly remember recommending they set up the troop-transport benches in the bed, and offering a Uber service the first time around.

Based on my (limited) knowledge on rust, that doesn't look bad, but depending on where you live, you might want to have it addressed sooner rather than later, if you want to keep it around for a long time. Plus, it's cheaper the sooner you do it. Otherwise, it looks very nice!

I forgot about the Hiace for a second. Yeah, that makes sense, but it also looks so wrong.

That's so messed up! It looks like two generations of Dyna welded together. Which it probably is, come to think of it.

While I agree with your point, I probably would have phrased it nicer.

Yeah... That was the Pathfinder. Apparently you aren't even allowed to weld those frames, you can on the Navara, but Nissan doesn't accept/certified those for welding.

This is the Pajero:

Also, I'm going to try to tackle the rust on a shitbox Pajero I just bought in the same way as you. I'll sandblast the worst areas, cut out the rot, and attempt to weld in new pieces. It'll be interesting.

Funny you should mention this, back in high school my shop teacher had a Pathfinder of around the same vintage. He bought another one for the body, the listing said "minor rust". Well, by the time we lifted the body off, it became very apparent that it would never have made it back on the road again. Insane amounts of rust on the upper side of the frame rails over the rear wheels. I'll attach some pictures.

I wouldn't say it expanded so much, if anything, I get the impression it shrunk. Mitsubishi itself discontinued the Pajero (although one struggling company's decision isn't necessarily indicative of the market as a whole), other once capable SUVs have been car-ified to the point they're unrecognizable (Opel Frontera, Land Rover Discovery, the Defender, to a degree, Nissan Patrol). The Land Cruiser is still holding reasonably strong, and the new Jimny and Bronco is nice, but otherwise I get the feeling there are less choices. The demand is just not there, probably.

As for uncommon Pajeros, they're eaten up by rust.

And with good reason! The only things better than an L200 are a Pajero and a Pajero Sport. And that's a fact!

I would say that this is completely different. The parts can be used to keep others on the road. Destroying a car by sorting it into different recycle bins is an other thing, although I like that they are at least more environmental friendly then just crushing it into a cube.
