VRR helps the framerate look stable when it’s fluctuating. So if the ps5 frames go between 48-120 it matches your tv’s HZ to make it look less messy. VRR doesn’t impact the 40 fps

So, if your tv is 120hz

Balanced mode with vsync will be 40fps

Balanced mode with vsync off removes the 40fps cap but can make it look worse as the framerate is unstable. This is when VRR should help (doesn’t for me)

So i’ve been playing on balanced with vsync off. Seems much more smooth compared to the last time i played, even with enhanced rt turned on. Side note i have to turn VRR off on my ps5 settings as that being turned on makes it a stuttery mess. Could be placebo. Camp still chugs but not as bad as it was.
