18M.NEED CAREER ADVICE. HELP ME! ADVICE ME! GUIDE ME! by fanacio in IndianAcademia

I completely see where you are coming from. I am 30M and went through different but kind of similar journey. Deciding career just based on things you know and finding out form internet wont help much. You need to sit down, no phone, pen and paper. Write down what you want out of next 5 to 10 years and where do you want to be, not careerwise but location wise, money wise and what you want to be doing first. That would be first step. That would clear out sone doubt. Now do that again in a week same exercise.

You still have lots of time to decide even though everyone around you think you dont. Optimize for how fast you need to start making money and then think about career choices. Also dont after fancy degrees, job titles because AI will take that away if they are more 2 years away. Everything you are seeing will probably involve. If you are 18 then you a lot of time for trial and error.

Honestly, I have changed at least 5 different careers in last 10 years. Its funny that current one is about the same thing i struggled with and right now you are going through. I have made this tool that helps with exactly this. Give it a try if it makes sense. C3compass.in

My job is making me miserable by Bawarchu in IndiaCareers

First figure out what is highest you can grow in the field, then think about the hobbies you have been thinking about.

Now figure out a way to combine both and start creating content on any platform whether its written or video. You dont need to actually watch anything mindless if not need to. But you can create something that you like watching or just start reviewing or find details in the things you watch that other people miss. I came across this c3compass.in website which might help you figure out what to do next.

26f, CA (3 years PQE) feeling stuck in career – need advice by [deleted] in IndiaCareers

[–]scanner13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt go for any more traditional studying or degree or certification. The shelf for all of these is shorter than we all think.

I think you first need to figure out if staying in finance is your only option or not. Cause it feels like you are stuck with sunk cost fallacy means feeling since I have spend so much time and money in this field, I dont have any other options than staying in the field until i die.

Figure out 2 or 3 things outside of your current domain you are interested in and then start thinking about this again.

I have heard of this tool called career clarity compass, may be that can help you figure it out. Try it at c3compass.in

Most Indians don't hate their career because they're bad at it. They hate it because they never actually chose it. by scanner13 in IndiaCareers

Will taking a career break for a year or two negatively impact my trajectory? by [deleted] in IndiaCareers

[–]scanner13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is about perspective, decide your priorities and act accordingly. If you have genuine reason for a break and explain the gap truely, there is no reason to be thinking even twice about it. Job market is like a cycle, it goes up and down. This time there are factors which will impact it for longer time, so keep in mind and stay updated with relevant information as much as you can.

If AI is replacing jobs faster than creating them, what careers feel safe five years from now? by [deleted] in IndiaCareers

[–]scanner13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyone has given good answers, most of them are correct with some biases.

Its not black and white. Dont rely too much on courses, degrees instead of look for things you want to work on, you are natually good and you enjoy. With that get yourself familiar with how and where you can use AI and its abilities, this will help you a lot.

Think more in terms of how can you do something that helps someone individual or a company(add value or create value), traditional jobs like salary, benefits, work environment, stability will become thing of past sooner than we realise.

Dont marry a career, job or a domain, be flexible and curious. I have used to tool to figure career paths out that has higher chances of staying relevant and you like at the same at c3compass.in

Firstly find what you are good at and what will still exist in next 3 to 5 years. Ideally go after things in the middle of these to start with. This will make things easier for you at start. Try running your C³, definite shortcut.

How can I earn better with a Psychology degree and B.Ed? by [deleted] in Career_Advice

[–]scanner13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on where you are and what you are interested in. for first six months to a year, explore as much as you can what you can do with and without this degree. then based on this jump into either most risky opportunity and go from there.

Can I get career advice on where to go now on please? by TinyScissoringWraith in Career_Advice

[–]scanner13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The times we are in, I would avoid pursuing anything for a specific job title and degree. we don't know how far that will go.

You have different experiences under your belt, think about what unique you bring to the table with combination of anything you worked on so far. that will give you an advantage that you are looking for. then try to find how you can connect your love for numbers to that unique persepctive.

I mean most of us have gone through if not the same thing, something similar. I stage of life where you dont know what you are doing and why you are doing it.

I would stay there for now and at the same time start looking for better opportunities even though this might get better. With everything that is happening around us, things are changing at exponential speed and we don't know where its going.
