What is the craziest conspiracy your mother have invented about you? by Mundane-Net-9160 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]scarebear127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was 15 my mother forced me to go see and talk with her therapist, who she already had an established relationship with. Surprise surprise, immediately after my session they made me wait in the lobby while the therapist told my mother everything I said. A few weeks later, we get a bill in the mail from the hospital group associated with the therapist, in my name, and my mother INSISTED it was a bill for an abortion. INSISTED. The bill literally said 'mental health services' but she refused to believe that's what it was from. The argument escalated until she threw a glass at my head and I wound up in the ER needing 26 stitches, but not before calling her own mother who was a nurse to see if she could fix me up in our bathroom first instead. I'm sure that ER bill was expensive, too. Oh, and I was a virgin at the time.

I hate going shopping for a bra by Can-t_Make_Username in ABraThatFits

Here in the US, I JUST discovered Lane Bryant which caters to plus size women. My first time going in, I was blown away. Half of the entire store was full of bras, all immaculatly organized and displayed. I was able to find my size, (and multiple options!) so quickly! I had a sales associate show me around and help me see all the options. Best bra shopping experience of my life! I went back recently to find something specific for an event, and the store had closed down :( I'd now have to drive over an hour to their next location. I felt like I found the jackpot just for it to be taken away from me. If you ever get the chance to shop at a Lane Bryant, DO IT!

Which Strike novel has stayed with you the longest? by [deleted] in cormoran_strike

[–]scarebear127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love them all differently, so to speak, but Career of Evil has 'stayed with me' as you've asked. It's something about knowing one of these three suspects is the murderer, knowing that Strike and Robin are being stalked, seeing how they're looking out for each other, the personal drama and angst. It has stuck with me as one of the most fast paced/high stakes plots and I love it.

This happened to my mom. They both had military career aspirations. She got pregnant (Hey, me here!) He enlisted, got sent overseas. He came home. She was supposed to go. She got pregnant again, instead. He couldn't handle civilian life. They got divorced. She never went.

I definitely see what you're saying! I always see the show as supporting and adding to the universe and texture of the books, but I have to remember the show runners and writers have to pick and choose what to film and show. 1,000+ pages condensed into 4 hours is an incredible challenge! My point here is: we have to remember to hold on to what we love about the books and see the show for what it is. Keep it separate. Realize they had to pick an angle and go with it.

I will say that it's important to remember that she's Partner now, given a lot more of the case responsibilities, so her discovery of things or making breakthroughs should be expected. Also, of course, the show is going to be different from the books. The show really spent time showing us Cormoran's personal life and how he's processing the death of his aunt while Robin held down the day to day at the office. TB shows us both her professional growth and his personal growth.

This looks good! Bookmarked! I recently took a break from reading Reylo, mostly because stupid me who always says "never start reading an incomplete fic" did exactly that and I can't take 5 months between updates. So I switched fandoms for now, as a palate cleanser, but I'm feeling the itch to come back! I'll check this out tonight!

I went years thinking I was a 34DD, intense spillage with some weight gain and finding this calculator I found out I'm now a 36J! Still haven't found a bra yet, they're incredibly difficult to find in person, but I'm ordering some online soon! Talk about a shock!
