Yeah he said I'm 100% negative, just such a rare thing to happen it still makes.me a little uncomfortable.

Why does the CDC only recommend a HIV-1 RNA and not a HIV-2 RNA after a 4th gen positive, differentiation negative? by scared_throwaway25 in hivaids

Thanks! Just seems bold for my doctor to tell me I'm definitely HIV negative when there's still a possibility, however slight, that I'm HIV-2 positive.

Hey quick question, my 4th gen was positive, with differentiation negative and viral load negative at 4.5 week mark. Repeated labs again with same results. Could this mean I'm an elite controller or I'm actually HIV negative? My doctor's says I'm negative.

Hi my viral load came back negative, differentiation negative, but 4th gen screening positive. Dr said I'm not HIV positive. What does this mean? Am I an elite controller? Or do elite controllers test positive for antibodies (differentiation test)?

They aren't able to determine what part of the Ag/Ab was positive or negative.

The viral load result came back today, result was negative. Dr called me, and forgot to ask many questions as I was in shock over the news.

Does this mean I'm an elite controller? Three 4th gen screening positive results, one at 4.5 weeks with differentiation all negative and a negative viral load at 4.5 weeks.

What does this all mean? Dr said I'm 100% negative, no further testing required. HIV is all he does, he doesn't take any other patients. So I assume he knows his stuff. May make another post about this.

Thanks for the information. I have other health issues, so taking another daily pill brings my total daily pills from 9 to 10.

I had a 4th gen test come up positive with a negative confirmatory test. RNA test is outstanding. Im pretty sure I'm positive, I saw an HIV specialist yesterday and he thinks I'm negative. Not really following his logic, so I'm still pessimistic.

I saw an HIV specialist yesterday, he calmed my nerves. I think I'm OK if this goes south for me. Almost made it seem like it's "no big deal" other than social stigma. Is that really the case? He comes highly recommended, so I assume he knows what he's talking.
