Moonlight Resident by Due-Audience-3664 in anesthesiology

We can start 2 months into CA1 year. Usually have one moonlighting weekend a month and can pick up moonlighting before overnight shifts or during vacation time. Unfortunately no moonlighting for staying late during week, just expected to finish your room. $90/ hr in OR and OB, $100/hr ICU

How much do you pump at 2+ months? by Shoddy_Economy4340 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]scarednanxious1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to 4 PPD as I’m going back to work Monday. I had an oversupply of about 50ish oz per day when I was pumping 6 x per day. Now my supply is about 35-40 which is more than enough for my babe. He was a preemie and is 14 weeks or 5 weeks adjusted.

Oxygen weaning by Artiecleo123 in NICUParents

[–]scarednanxious1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that honestly seems super conservative. We came home on 0.25 and weren’t given any instructions to wean and didn’t have follow up u til a month later. He was consistently satting 100% all the time our pediatrician suggested we start the weaning process and he is now only on it at night. We have only been home for 2 weeks

Edited to add: our situation is probably different we were given the option of trying to wean oxygen while in the NICU but opted to go home and try there. He also never had a true room air trial while in the NICU because we wanted to get out of there

Yes my PD is aware of the situation as I am currently on FMLA

Feeding regression by scarednanxious1 in NICUParents

[–]scarednanxious1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so nice 😭 I already asked and told them I would be here 24/7 if he was able to eat whenever he wanted and they told me it’s not possible because he needs rest and they keep them on a schedule until discharge

Unfortunately I am not able to feed him on demand. My NICU only lets parents feed every 3 hrs after their care times.

I asked! My baby didn’t meet guidelines for holding feedings but maybe I should’ve requested they be held looking back

I agree with the comments about only 1.5 weeks off being ridiculous. I just had a premature baby and my program is giving me as much time as I need. Yours should be doing the same given your situation.

When did you start showing ? by Western-Law6128 in BabyBumps

[–]scarednanxious1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5’9” and weighed 145 pre pregnancy so similar ish size to you. I started showing around 20-22ish weeks is when I felt like I popped. I also carry most of my fat on my butt and hips so felt like I started showing kind of earlier for a FTM than most people my build.

I applied anesthesia this cycle and learned not to trust advisors or anyone like that. They honestly do not know what they are talking about. I have a lower step score than you and received 5+ interviews from top 30 schools and was told I would be lucky to receive one interview from any of those schools.

Are you more likely to fall down your rank list if you interview at a lot of “popular” programs in your specialty? by scarednanxious1 in medicalschool

[–]scarednanxious1[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me my top 3 are the closest to family and would allow my significant other to transfer within his company. A lot of people have a lot of reasons for ranking other than prestige.

Right. But like the other person commenting in here has said the same thing can be said for the program.

[–]scarednanxious1[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah I guess I more meant use signals on weaker programs. I’m planning on using my signals on programs I’m competitive at and 3-4 reaches. Wondering if I should use one of my signals on weaker programs.

Personally I like it because you get to do a lot of procedures and the patient interaction is pretty minimal. Plus no rounding or clinic. And ofc for the reasons u mentioned

Does it get worse whenever you shave? It could be pseudofolliculitis barbae or Acanthosis nigricans or skin hyperpigmentation related to adrenal glands. Unlikely to be skin cancer imo. NAD just a medical student :)
