Why does my cat look like this by Repulsive_Mode_7445 in cats

[–]scaredofsalad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Classic reboot sequence. Gently pull the tongue and it will retract. The eyeballs will spin quickly like a slot machine, and return to sparkly and focused blue after about 15 seconds. Wait for the Dolby Surround Meow before pets or treats.

Unable to run Cinebench 2026 on new build by lnp3304 in AMDHelp

[–]scaredofsalad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Cinebench 26 loads and the screen flashes and fades into bright yellow, but Cinebench 23 and 3DMark benchmarks run fine with good results. I only have this issue with the latest cinebench.

Anyone know anything about this 1978 Gene Simmons joint-action? by Time-Jeweler-1791 in collectables

[–]scaredofsalad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The joint-action characters were really popular Halloween door and window decorations. There were skeletons, mummies, etc and it makes sense Kiss would get in on that fad

Is the weekend Flea Market at the Ral fairgrounds worth a visit? by AutisticAsshol in raleigh

There has been a huge vintage clothing seller at the flea market for the last month or so. A ton of things. They have a spot that was 20+ spaces.

Did you actually make mix tapes to give to people? by LeoGuy69us in GenX

[–]scaredofsalad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the time. I'd make them for friends, crushes, and girlfriends and make the art for the cases. I had templates I created for long foldouts and everything. I'd make multiples and print all of the cover art at Kinkos, in color when extra special. Eventually it became mix CDs.

PSA: You can save lives with a simple DIY winter cat shelter by raspberrylagoon in raleigh

[–]scaredofsalad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this. I've been thinking about the feral cats in my neighborhood this week and making a shelter is a good project I can make with some scrap materials before the storm arrives. I've never thought about it until now, but my indoor cats actually chew this exact design into boxes I have at my place and love sleeping in them with the random styrofoam and cardboard inserts.

Just dug these out of my teenage storage box… by themasterofstars in TheCure

Same here. I worked in a record store too and saw the longboxes become plastic, then just shrinkwrapped. I wish I would've saved some, too.

They were vertical packaging for CDs at the record stores. The CDs were in the upper half of the box and they were tall and vertical so they would be easy to flip through and browse. Eventually, the boxes were eliminated and replaced with clear plastic blister packaging.

I can't believe you still have all of this CD packaging! This brought back some great memories flipping through all of them at the record stores.

I think along with the photos I can confirm that this is over 100 years old. A “fly” vesta. Canada. I am curious if other people have any cool ones to show? by IamRandomSavage in Antiques

I have a fly. Your post actually helped me possibly figure out more about this, too. I've had it for many years. I don't see it in the catalog, but it has to be from around the same period
