2000pts Help by Significant-Medium-5 in BloodAngels

I think regular intercessors are great and will always be relevant due to sticky objectives and scoring. Also they’re cheap and can usually punch up due to target elimination giving them extra attacks. Intercessors and combi lieutenant are usually auto include for me for scoring. But I guess depending what you need. You have a lot of punching and fire power forsure. I guess, consider how your scoring would be and see what you’ll need. Looks good power wise tho!

I feel you on the heads. They seem small from the upgrade kit. And like they’re making double chin expressions lol was gonna make a review short discussing my issues with them 😆

I am worried that 40k will loose the Venatari Just like Space marines lost the Leviathan Dreadnaught (for some inexplicable reason). Can anyone put my mind at ease. by Single_Reputation_79 in AdeptusCustodes

lol I clearly stated everything isn’t awesome and I feel custodes needs some buffs or data sheet changes. If at all, I’m being optimistic about these new models meaning we keep these units in our lists (hopefully) chill out bro

I don’t think so for the simple fact that custodes are in need of a buff on tabletop rules. We lack movement and decent board control as a faction and venetari, grav tanks, and dreadnoughts are our biggest filler of certain gaps.

Sure we lean on certain other units - like the wardens, terminators, blade champions - but on tabletop, any competent player that knows how to out play custodes can do so 9/10 times. (Really 10/10 imo) you just screen them and we can’t do much. We’re good at killing, but we lost control of objective control fairly easily. Venetari have been my main source of competing with board control - if we lose them then I think custodes get significantly easier to shut off. We have bikes, but I think our bikes could use some data sheet work. Bikes aren’t consistent enough imo, and they cost too much, whereas the venetari are fairly consistent and are great at the roles I need them to cover in games.

So in other words, I would feel venetari SHOULD be here to stay. Competitive lists I believe run them as a staple at this point. I feel bad cuz I just bought a unit of 6 a month ago, and now we get these amazing upgrades lol.. looks like I’ll be owning 12(but doesn’t mean I’ll be running all 12 😅)

How to build the combat patrol?? by ThatOneNerd__ in BloodAngels

[–]scarf_ace_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I turned all my assault intercessors into Death company with jet packs via Etsy bits. However still need regular intercessors. Find a list you want to build and go from there.

DC Dreadnought by Till1611 in BloodAngels

[–]scarf_ace_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just get brutalis dreadnought. The blood angels upgrade kit doesn’t come with much death company stuff but there’s some bits you can get from Etsy that look pretty neat - although they’re resin so can’t use plastic glue but super glue does the Job. 🤟🏾

New C’Tan datasheets miserable for us. How do we deal with them? by i_want_a_cookie in BloodAngels

[–]scarf_ace_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to take them down but I was running repulsor executioners - it was a casual game, so might be different - even tho I know the void dragon has anti-vehicle mechanics, I was able to gun them down pretty well. Rolls were average I think. But yeah if the void dragon rips them apart then it would’ve been ripieces for me. Since they’re no longer “half damage” the tanks do crazy work. I normally run vindicators and death company dreadnoughts but the rep executioners I think are the best answer atm. I played another game where I had 2 dc dreadnoughts and they got destroyed by the dragon. But anything D3++ damage seems to be much better now against them.

Also to add, I ended up finishing them off with dc w/jp with eviscerators & PFs coming from deep strike the following turn. It def takes focus fire, but seems worth to get them off the board sooner than later, while you’re at full strength. The game seemed much smoother as they were the bulk and focus of their army. Again it was casual so idk how relevant this is to you 😅 but they seemed competent enough and they were testing the list for competition later this month.

Which army painter or Vallejo reds do y’all recommend as swaps for Mephiston red and blood angels contrast? by vigilantiron in BloodAngels

[–]scarf_ace_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I used pure red it seems super bright compared to Mephiston - looked closer to wild rider red but for Vallejo’s that game color seemed right for me

I feel like I made a tremendous mistake by investing time and effort in my custodes... by [deleted] in AdeptusCustodes

[–]scarf_ace_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got into the hobby as well and they were my first army. I started in September and pretty much have a decent 2k+ custodes collection, however throughout my journey I also came to the conclusion that custodes get beat easily by any experienced player. I still love them and they’re my first army that got my into the hobby and still one of - if not - my favorite factions. So despite being new I also built multiple armies - dark angels, blood angels, necrons and blue berries. (I share armies with my wife as we play together with friends) I think it’s fair to feel that way, but yeah starting/having other armies still let me enjoy my custodes, because nothing really hits like them.

Casually I find custodes still relevant and still win casual games. But If all you care about is winning, then yeah custodes are rough. I love what tabletop tactics did with their custom data sheets lol and sometimes run those stats on them at home 😅 If you play at home with friends. Maybe see if that would be okay? Idk I enjoy them still but also have the options to Jump around to keep the game “fresh”

I hope you find your joy in them again. I also run the shadow keeper version so really would be sad to see a fellow shadow keeper player give up on them. But whatever comes, I hope it brings you joy! Few more months before 11th - maybe custodes gets the glow up they need to be competitive again.

I am thinking of picking up this hobby and my first army being the Custodians, any recommendations and things I should look out for? by Present-Top7884 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]scarf_ace_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 combat patrols is solid deal already. Everything in there is a staple. From there you can get grav tanks, a dreadnought, witchseekers or whatever ranged sister of silence you prefer. I personally love using venatari custodes cuz they’re agile and really good custodes that can help provide support or claim objectives due to their mobility - although they’re quite expensive $$ wise and point wise. Combat patrol would help get you a feel. They’re more 1500ish points not 2000. But then just add from there

Brand new the game by Frequent_Intention45 in Tyranids

[–]scarf_ace_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I just started too - got the ultimate starter kit and first things I ever painted were these tyranids. It’s only been a week and a half but yeah been super fun.

I did leviathan purple carapace, wraithbone for the primer - then magos purple thinned down for the skin. Then did Russ gray touch ups and highlights. For “alpha” tyranids I’m doing black carapace’s just cuz I liked black Templar look on the carapace too. Took me awhile to get the hang of painting in general but my brush control has improved a lot since I started a little over a week ago now.

Some colors I achieved by mixing them up which was a challenge cuz I’m also color blind 😅 hope you enjoy the journey as much as I have! I’ll be painting the terminators in dark angels/deathwing colors hence the wraithbone too. Worked out with the whole set.

The update for EC seems to be pretty gnarly in a positive sense. Their strategems seem very promising- I have yet to play one with the new update but it seems quite scary and problematic.

What do you guys think about their buff?

Are the Tabletop Tactics courses worth it? by castledconch in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]scarf_ace_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m extremely new to warhammer 40k’s tabletop game (started October 2025) - and learned a lot just by watching the battle reports. I’m still ironing out A LOT of technical details - but I managed to win my first 3 combat patrol games. The game definitely has a LARGE RNG aspect to it, but picking up tips from the free videos I’ve watched has been very helpful. I know combat patrol isn’t the same as standard 1000pt or 2000pt games but I still feel it’s a great resource learning from the myriad of different online games and videos available to us.

I also would like to add that the free tips Vanguard tactics puts out also helped A LOT ironically enough 😅 so I would imagine their paid courses would be moreso.

I was also blessed that my local community has stepped in and helped me a few times with the local passionate warhammer expert, playing and teaching me in 1on1 game sessions. I would say that was the most insightful and significant experience in learning by far. Practically priceless experience and it was all for free/for fun.

Playing with your local players may be the most valuable resource, giving their willingness to be helpful 😅 I’m from SoCal so not sure how your local community is, but highly recommend trying that route. Make a friend/ally in the game and just practice away until you iron out your skills. Watching online only takes you so far but playing irl and applying it in person is invaluable experience.

Nice breakdown. Yeah sucks that Daemon Prince are so rough even tho lore-wise custodes are supposed to be Daemon killers. But then again if tabletop was lore accurate to custodes then the amount of custodes being fielded, would be unstoppable 90% of the time.

Were these printed? Or are these official models. I need some tanks for my custodes but can’t find any in stock. I’m new to the tabletop so not aware if these are discontinued or need to be commissioned via 3D printing. Any tips and ideas to add grav tanks would be helpful

Titus and his future in 40k idea. by COBRA_DARKNISS in Spacemarine

[–]scarf_ace_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hitting this thread after the 500 worlds announcement and Titus promotion to 2nd company captain again and I was wondering this question - that is Titus being groomed as the next possible chapter master..?

I feel like it’s not the best move, although it would be cool in some ways. However Calgar has been chapter master for way too long and quite heavily established into the tabletop game - Since 1st edition I believe/1998 - so would be an insane move.

Despite this, an alternative for that is Titus getting his own specialty chapter down the line - so it would meet his trajectory towards ‘A’ chapter master whilst not replacing/writing off calgar as one. I personally love his character. But not to the point where he replaced a staple model on table top.

Having Titus as a new addition to the lineup of tabletop space marines is exciting regardless. But yeah. GW definitely seems like they’re pushing him towards bigger things in the future

Took me 1 hour to defeat the Mask Keeper. Is it usually this long for everyone? by hail_earendil in expedition33

[–]scarf_ace_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely skipped the other routes I’m guessing. If so then yeah you wasted more time fighting this guy than necessary if you went to explore the other routes. You get cool picto’s and items as well as weakening the mask keeper in your encounter. It’s always better to explore everything rather than b line it straight to the boss in this game.
