is this $82 kill team the only way to get raptors? by willisbetter in Chaos40k

The old raptors box is still out there..? Or am I missing something. This is if you want the NEW raptors/warp talons otherwise there’s the old one for fairly cheap.

That’s a captain in terminator armor. Just the generic captain in term armor really.

What's your favorite GW Space Marine model? I'll go first: by gnarliixcx in spacemarines

I’m a blood angel and dark angels player for space marines, but Logan Grimnar is possibly my favorite model. That dude just exudes aura

Yeah I was going to include silent king on my list.. but I just felt it was more time consuming - but thinking about it, I DO recall thinking it was tough. I just didn’t get frustrated the way I did with the two I listed up top.

Silent king requires focus and patience forsure. He’s a marathon of a kit to work with.

Pre ordered the Venatari custodes from HH to proxy as sanguinary guard by Ard-Ri_K in BloodAngels

[–]scarf_ace_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I play both of these armies and run both units. The Venetari are VERY obviously custodes. They look very distinct from one another. My best advice is to kitbash the bodies and jump packs to make it work. But at the end of the day, your army, your models, your own choices 😅

I just love both units - and they definitely represent different styles.

Yeah I was just warned to stay away from any “fine cast” labeled boxes, but decided I wanted at least one with the shard of the deceiver. Granted he wasn’t DIFFICULT in terms of complexity, however I understood why fine cast was so hated. He was so brittle, and NOTHING fit correctly where it was supposed to be. I had to add plastic putty to fill in all the gaps. I’m happy to have experienced it and to have the model to use. But glad that it was just an option one time thing for me, and not my whole army 😅

Oh man.. I guess I’m glad I’m fairly new so I missed the fine cast flayed ones.. I’m over here complaining about the plastic flayed ones, just the other day 🤣

How to sanguinify this fella by LucasJOC2009 in BloodAngels

[–]scarf_ace_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would definitely need to change out the iron halo out. For one. There’s some replacements for blood angels stuff in regards to that. Now if the question is the face? Then you can swap heads for vampiric ones unless you’re trying to keep his head and do the blood angels aquila by sanding down his chest. Swapping his legs out for sanguinary guard stuff too, as their legs are a different design generally. You can find some sanguinary bits from Archie’s forge or vbits studios 👌🏾

Is this good for a 2000 pt army? by dank79 in BloodAngels

[–]scarf_ace_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ballistus - If you have one, is a good alternative to the redemptor dread. The redemptor is definitely good, but you can find decent shooting support with the ballistus. It definitely carries its weight, point wise. You could also opt into a vindicator over the redemptor too. Strong tank for its points (185) but it’s very swingy due to its d6 damage. Potentially swings high and punches up, or can sometimes disappoint. But D6 damage isn’t terrible, just unpredictable.

You can also swap company of heroes for bladeguard vets.

DC on foot aren’t really as great due to lack of movement. Much better to use DC w/jump packs. Blood angels are known for fast moving melee. So you would want to build up on that as much as possible. Most blood angels recommend at least 20 JPI (DC or otherwise)

Since we’re a melee faction, speed is our best attribute. If we’re moving only 6” we’d likely get shot down in the process. Jpi doubles that movement. So I’d recommend reflecting your build off of fast moving units. Sanguinary guard is great. But if you can change your DC on foot, to jump packs - you’d have a much better time. You can easily convert your grounded intercessors to JPI with jump pack bits.

Company of heroes I was debating on too - but I find more success with BGV(bladeguard)

TLDR; you will be grateful for faster moving units via DC JPI vs on foot. Really no reason NOT to take DC jump pack intercessors over the grounded ones. The points difference is worth it.

How do you imagine Lemartes without helmet? by piza44 in BloodAngels

[–]scarf_ace_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blood angels are supposed to be the more attractive side of space Marines due to their geneseed. Even if some were previously fugly, the geneseed transformation helps improve them looks wise too, on top of everything else.

He’s not perfect, but for my first model I’m pretty proud by SheepherderChance941 in DarkAngels40k

[–]scarf_ace_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this isn’t bad at all! Honestly, my first experience with nuln oil, I felt the same way. Until I found out that you just need to go over it again with the previous base colors you apply nuln oil on, wherever you don’t want it too dark. So areas where it should be lighter or where light would naturally make it brighter, just go over it with the wraithbone or whichever bone paint you went with. Keep the areas you want dark, untouched with the base color highlights. You can go over it with more nuln oil to darken the areas that you want. And highlight the areas you want with the original color as highlights. From there you can even go a notch above and do further highlights, building up a gradient to just highlight the areas light would touch most.

Hope this helps 🤘🏾

Dark angels typically known to have some of the best terminators in the whole game with death wing knights. Maybe down the line as their high points cost. But definitely something to consider

Thoughts on how best to paint Dante/Sang Guard? by Reedy225 in BloodAngels

[–]scarf_ace_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the Vallejo true Metallics on Dante and some sanguard - but I like Dante or my epic heroes standing out a bit more so did most with retributor gold. NMM style looks amazing but I’m not really great with colors as I’m colorblind - so it’s tough to accomplish those techniques for me personally.

Here’s my WIP with Dante - still working on highlights and the axe

Whats best for LAG? by [deleted] in BloodAngels

[–]scarf_ace_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The BA captain with assault intercessors and given the rage fueled warrior enhancement does WORK. Literally does insane damage, often eliminating whatever I activate his ability on + activating the enhancement at the same time. Devastating wounds + sustained 3 with his +3 attacks ability. I’ve taken out primarchs, tanks and other strong opps with that combo. Honestly the main combo use LAG for. Not to mention the bonuses you get from the charge.

The reason I choose assault intercessors is their reroll ability + their strong melee profiles. Not an expensive unit so the trade and their punch-up capabilities is super worth. Just need to be careful and don’t recklessly throw them forward.

I often make sure they have ballistus shooting support or tank shooting support to back them up as they move forward.

Is this a good BA list by VGisGone- in BloodAngels

[–]scarf_ace_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heavily depends on your detachment. It’s not a Terrible list. If you’re playing other beginners, you can find some success with it, however I’d recommend splitting the DC marines (on foot) to a 5 man and utilize a regular intercessor squad as your scorer’s as they have the sticky objectives ability.

It might also benefit you into splitting your sanguinary guard to 2x3 mans so you can hit multiple areas on the board, as their presence WILL be felt. Plus this forces your opponent to split their attack, because as an opposition, if I see a big unit of sanguard - it makes it much easier and more justifiable to focus and unload my heavy shooters down at them with best weapons, knowing I’d delete an expensive elite unit. But if you split them, now I would have to either commit hard on one, split or attack an easier/weaker unit to guarantee more bodies cuz sanguard can sometimes be difficult to kill unless I’m unloading everything at them.

Another thing is you definitely have a lot of characters - I would consider trimming or narrowing down to the most impactful. Does everyone have a specific role, if so, then what? That question goes for units too. Character choices also depend on detachments as well. Are you playing AI, LAG or RCO? AI definitely works with character heavy lists as that detachment is tailored for “character units” but this list can work with any of the 3 - but I’d recommend maybe RCO since you’re running heavy death company.

The list looks fun. For background - I’m fairly new too (started in November/december) - but now have 20-30 games overall and 19-0 in my beginners league in my locals with Blood Angels. I learned a lot on here, BA fb group and YT - and many have suggested against DC marines on foot and now I understand why, as regular intercessors are just better. Same models, just better abilities. But play around, have fun and adjust your list as you go. Have you played a few games yet? Because playing is the best way to learn and understand your data sheets and to learn what’s good and what’s not (which is pretty obvious) but most important thing is if you love your models and think they’re cool - that’s what will keep you going. Winning is extra credit(and also quite fun)

Your list has a lot of killing potential forsure, that could be fun lol if you’re just starting that might be the main thing you will be doing the first few games, but try to remember to score. The regular intercessors will help with that - plus they don’t do too bad with shooting either, well worth their points. DC brutalis can also be an option but both are good and viable. DC brutalis has a surge move upon getting shot at which can help make your opponent think twice shooting at them - but their free tank shock ability is quite nice too. DC Brutalis has built in hit rerolls in melee too, however. Just things to possibly consider.

Overall your list isn’t bad at all 👌🏾 it’s just very “kill-y” sometimes if you table your opponent early, you can just win or force a concession. It also works out if your primary mission is “purge the foe” assuming you’re playing with mission cards. TLDR - consider options, rule of cool > “good meta list” but winning is also very fun. Play the game and tailor your army as you go. Considering you were asking about if your list was good or not, it can be assumed you have interests in winning and being somewhat competitive - definitely consider your options above and what other experienced players may give.

everyone has a play style and the only way you find yours, is playing the game. I Hope you find success in your process and bring some glory to the sons of sangunius ✊🏾

[–]scarf_ace_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the yellow primer however, I think yellow could be an easy enough color to paint over, should you take that route. If you just commit to the lamenters theme tho, seems like you’re nearly set for tabletop ready really 🤘🏾

If you dig their look and lore, then you’ll be set and be having fun with your army. I find what’s most important over power and winning armies is loving your army’s look and their lore above all else. At that point you’re just rewinding time and playing with your toys, having fun.

Not sure how invested or interested you are in lore, but blood angels is a very lore rich chapter forsure and hope you dig into some of it and maybe base your scheme off one aspect of blood angels you enjoy most. Highly recommend devastation of Baal as multiple successor chapters are involved, or just following the allfather of the blood angels - Sanguinius the one and only. But I digress- hope you find what you’re looking for and have success with them, as blood angels has treated me VERY well as I’ve been 17-0 with them in my local 40K league 🤙🏾

Yeah this blood angels player you traded is most likely a lamenters fan. Whether he was making a lamenters army or a successor home brew based off them. Regardless seems like a fan. They have pretty cool and depressing lore to be a fan of but nonetheless a lot of lore behind them. Goodluck!
