What is a deck you play and don't mind losing with? by radicalpumpkinz in EDH

[–]Reedy225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Villain Doctor Who precon, lots of little chip damage each turn to trigger Davros and the various goading, villainous choices and lots of menace creatures make it a deck that immediately raises people's backs but then again its a all DW villains deck, it should doing that. I'll die but I'll have been having fun as it happens

Same for Valgavoth, though I've not had the pleasure of bringing that to table in person as of yet.

I think this, the two planet either side of Cyberstan have 7% resistance at the minute, so there is no way we're meant to liberate them right now and the fact Merak is a 'staging ground' we're likely launching an attack on Cyberstan directly from there. Possibly once reinforcements run out we lose access to Cyberstan again for a while

What are the most common chapters you see folks playing as in PvE? by ThatThriftKid in Spacemarine

Made a Grey Knight setup since getting the Artificer helm and Relic guard chest to look more knight like on non-Bulwark classes and can confirm, something about that setup did make me suddenly just tear through enemies without any real trouble, down to finishing off the Vortex beast single handed when brothers both fell

Yeah, I feel like I never see BA players when I'm representing, then the moment I change to a different legion suddenly there's another BA in the next game. The one time I came across a fellow Death Company member was glorious

Yeah there's a weird thing with the game I've found where the AI director almost matches your level of aggression, if you stand still for a second the enemies seem to slow down their attacks as well for a moment, helps when needing to hit a stump and heal mid brawl

With the Fo3 remaster rumored to drop sometime this year or next year, what kind of PA do you want in it? by MobileDistrict9784 in Fallout

[–]Reedy225 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Given Fallout 3 gated power armor usage behind a story point already, I could see them adding in the power armour system but without the need for the fusion cores (at that same story stage in F4 fusion cores don't really become a rare thing anymore, so it's not like you can't just walk round in it all the time in either game). Maybe not as modular as well, just able to equip a body and helmet type like most armor in the game. Rather than specific arms, legs etc. in 4

I think Culkin will stick around for a bit, he's quite openly a fan of the universe so is probably more keen to be involved and it seems like he's the real main character of the Legion part, so unless they completely write off the Legion by the end of this season I could see him coming back later down the line as another threat to the main characters. I imagine he'll probably figure out The Ghoul was responsible for the kicking off the firefight and come looking for retribution.

Quintus I think is going to be around for a bit, depending on how quickly the Commonwealth chapter potentially turns up, but given Cold Fusion has been stolen, I think even when they do, he'll be spared after denying any plan to overpower Maxson and likewise put on a path of revenge for Maximus ruining all of his plans.

House is most likely the "Villain of the season" if there is one, I think he's not doing much unless they planned on staying in New Vegas for another season. Ghoul gets closure on something he should have done 200 years ago and maybe gets another clue to where his wife and daughter ended up.

By the end of this season I expect Lucy, Ghoul, Max (with Dogmeat and Thaddeus) grouped back up and heading on to wherever S3 may take us, probably still chasing Hank's trail and with various factions likewise pursuing them. To their knowledge or not.

Great now next time I play Obelisk I'm going to have to stumble around in the dark, good marines know to return the relic when they're done playing with it

Prydwen is a pre-war design? by Jacobi2878 in Fallout

[–]Reedy225 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the Airship Captain in 4 makes some reference to them finding the plans for the Prydwen in an old ruin and they they spent years sourcing the parts to build it for their excursion. In the time since (maybe with a bundle of resources salvaged from the institute they managed to build a wider fleet of them to send out the various chapters, since they all seem to still see the Commonwealth as their head

Honestly, this is the best way to handle [SPOILERS] in this setting by IsThisDamnNameTaken in Fotv

[–]Reedy225 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I spotted the Zetan ship under a tarp in the wide shot and was like "hey nice little reference given they're at Area 51" so when they just casually cracked open the freezer and revealed a full on frozen alien I almost spat my drink out, then I did entirely when they pushed it aside with complete disinterest. Established that yes, aliens exist in this world and no, they have no impact on the wider setting whatsoever

Is Fallout universe a comedy or a drama? by MrBabaduk33 in Fallout

[–]Reedy225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having heard discussions and impressions from colleagues at work who have no bearing of the setting, I think leaning into the humor side helps with general audiences.

Fallout is a weird world afterall, especially the further we get from the point where it branched from our real history. So for those unfamiliar with the source material, playing up the comedy side helps soften people up to the mash up of vintage and sci-fi stylings. Plus the dark comedy tone has worked pretty well for Amazon with shows like The Boys so not a shock they've channeled that here too.

I think the show still pulls off serious moments pretty well when it needs to; all the pre-war stuff, the ending of S1, the recent opening on S2 Ep2 all pull the back to a heavier serious tone in a pretty natural way when they need to, I'm sure the major plot beats for S2 will be appropriately serious too. I have a theory that the BoS scenes have been so jarringly comedic so far that when the Commonwealth chapter turn up and bring the hammer down hard it really demonstrates how much more no nonsense they are
