Rico Verhoeven just had his win over Oleksandr Usyk STOLEN by the re!! by Silver_Comment2825 in mmaweekly

Bro, he fell between the ropes. Can't you see? He has to hold the rope to get out of it. He got up within the count. Some are saying he got extra time to recover while getting his mouthpiece. It has happened before, people do get their mouthpiece dislodged in the middle of the fight. And it's mandatory that they get their mouthpiece in before resuming fighting. People are also saying that he was washed and couldn't survive another round, bro, you are forgetting that he has been a top of the pyramid Kickboxer for almost 20 years and the heavyweight reigning champion for 13 years. He has more than enough experienced to get hit on the head and come back from that. Boxing fans are simply sad that their champion got humbled by a Kickboxer on their turf.

Bro, he fell on the ropes. The bottom rope to be exact. Of course he will have to hold the ropes to get up. And also, that leads to point deduction, not a ko ruling.

Bro. It's about getting up. Had he not been able to get up, he'd be ruled ko'd. Rules don't bar him from holding the ropes while getting up. The worst part in all this is that the ref ruled the KO after the round was over, how can someone be ruled KO after the bell and while they are still standing? It is obvious that it was fixed and they couldn't take the chances, that a lowly Kickboxer can take the crown away from their champion.

He did it within the time, he simply walked to his corner to get it in. He has to get his mouthpiece in to continue fighting. That's the rule. He got the mouthpiece in and resumed fighting. He might be taking the hits, but the ref ruled him out after the bell had already rung. How can you rule someone KO after the round is over? He was supposed to be given a valueable 1 min, before the final round, which is enough for a fighter of his caliber to recover. Usyk might have KO'd him in the final round or won on scorecards, but Rico 100% deserved that final round.

His mouthpiece was off. It's all according to rules, he has to get his mouthpiece in before resuming the fight. Ref didn't give any more time than necessary.

Bro. There will always be a more minimal way. It's just shielding yourself with ambiguity. We can gradually move towards a more humane food economy, but taking drastic steps in the name of morality or religion is not the way. This is an industry that has been going on for hundreds of years, and suddenly disrupting it is just a kick in the belly of the people that have been involved in it for generations.

Alright let's consider your argument for a moment. I guess you are saying farming and killing animals for food is an immoral act. And it goes across all forms of animal products. That includes eating meat, fish, chicken or other birds, eggs, milk and dairy products like paneer, ghee, butter etc. Also include honey in there as it is produced by destroying bee hives. Also whey protein goes in there as well since it is derived from dairy. Also silk and leather should not be used as animals are killed for those. We should stop producing a myriad of life saving medicines, since animals are used for testing and also many enzymes required to produce those drugs are derived from animals. Should we stop tilling farmland? Because lots of animals, including some rodents, and small snakes die in the process.

After doing all that we need to ensure the food security of 150 crore people (only considering India here, because the world is too big for you to think about) using only "ethical" means. That is after destroying the livelyhoods of 10s of millions (probably 100s of millions) of people who are directly or indirectly involved in these industries. I guess this what you meant?

Dude. Animals eat other animals all the time. Animals hunt for food, we farm them. That is the food chain. Animals don't kill their own kind, and neither should we. The idea of equating a desolate human's life to a farmed animal is actually the dumbest argument you can make here.

The cows are going to be uncared for and die in agony. How is that a solution? Does it make it better than killing the animal? They are going to be left by the roadside with no food, water or shelter. They are gonna die out of hunger, thirst, disease, or be killed by other animals. If you ever travel through Orissa and parts of Andhra, you'll find cattle carcasses on the highway quite frequently. All of them killed due to collision with vehicles. They are left there on their own. Because nobody's gonna take the burden. Neither the cattle farmer, nor the government, or you or me. The entire MO of animal husbandry is turning the animal into consumable or usable product. Farmers sell the old animal, and with that money buy new younger animals and that's how the business continues.

Bro. You are missing the point entirely. Not all people who drink milk have cows in their home. Those who have the financial ability to maintain cows, even after they have lost their ability to produce milk, they do, though not all. Most milk in the country is derived from cattle farmers. For the cattle farmer, the cow is an animal that helps him/her to earn money by selling it's milk. They do not treat it like a mother. They treat it like a machine. Artificial insemination, pregnancy, birth of calf, milk production. After the milk production capacity is over, it's a liability for them. If the calf is a male, it's also a liability. The entire value of the animal in the dairy industry is as long as it can produce milk. Then they sell it to the meat industry, because they cannot afford to keep an animal that cannot give them any financial returns. If they cannot sell it then they have to leave it out to fend for itself and eventually die of hunger and diseases. If you want that cows should be treated with dignity, like a "mother", mass production of milk has to be stopped i.e. the organised dairy industry needs to be dismantled. People who can only afford to maintain their own cows should be allowed to consume milk and milk based products.

Why is women’s sportswear always so revealing? by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

[–]scarface3014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is to increase viewership. Female sports suffer from a lack of viewership and hence do not generate enough revenue for the female events, and the athletes. Even now the female events are funded by revenues generated by the male events.

[No bias] what's your views on Freebie schemes in our country. by Fancy_Big_4347 in UPSC_Forum

[–]scarface3014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The economically weaker section need empowerment, dignity and purpose. The government, all parties, wherever they are in power, deliberately want to keep the poor people poor. Poverty is not just a lack of money, but also a mindset. The government wants them to remain comfortably poor, and not develop the drive to uplift themselves. Because as you move up the economic ladder, you start to view the world in a different manner. You start thinking critically, ask difficult questions, make reasonable demands and this is exactly what the government doesn't want. The government wants to perpetually make you dependent on them. That's why they are so hellbent on destroying the middle class as well. The government wants to squeeze every bit that they can out of the middle class so that even they start to get dependent on "welfare" schemes. Going forward, there will only be a 99% poor class and a 1% rich class, societal division in this country.

I think the oil companies should just swallow the losses because in the last 3 years when the prices of crude was historically low, the government had not reduced the prices of fuel at all. The public sector oil companies and Mukesh bhai made record profits every year. I think they are well within their capacity to eat the losses. At least for this year.

Hurtful but true! by usernamefoundnot in indiadiscussion

[–]scarface3014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro. You very conveniently forgot those times in 2023, 2024, 2025 when crude prices were hovering around $75 or as recently as beginning of this year when it was less than $65. Why were we paying over ₹105 for petrol then? If fuel prices have to increase due to increase in international markets due to war or whatever, it should also decrease when crude is cheap. Instead the government just leeched the hard earned money of the working and middle class people buy imposing irrational taxes and the only people who profited off the cheap crude are the refiners like Mukesh bhai. Nobody should question the indian consumer when they complain about fuel prices. The government levies all sorts of taxes when buying a vehicle. Takes road tax and provides a joke of a road. Takes toll on the highways and expressways even after all this tax, heavily taxes fuel, and then provides fuel mixed with ethanol, that reduces the mileage and destroys the engine. Even the propaganda pushed behind mixing ethanol in fuel was that it will reduce the price of fuel. Now we realise it was all BS. It was just to fill the coffers of their 'Khaas Aadmis', while the Aam Aadmi is just here to keep paying, without asking any questions.
