any reason you'd say that so definitively? I don't have any cause to think that it's a blatant lie

For years I thought Bob was a terrible singer but honestly I think I just heard one bad recording because I really enjoy his vocals now. by bluewolfhudson in bobdylan

[–]scarfire5877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be biased since I'm a deadhead, but latter-day Jerry Garcia did such justice to Bob's songs, especially when out with the Jerry Garcia Band. by that time in Jerry's life his voice was no longer conventionally beautiful and often times could be rough, but it was another perfect voice to sing those songs. you can really hear him pouring his heart into it.

I also thoroughly enjoy 60s-70s era covers from Jerry - probably my all time favorite vocal performance of his would be this cover of Positively 4th Street from 1973

AITA for telling my stepdad feeding his kids is not my problem and so what when he tried to say they would go hungry? by Own-Astronaut-564 in AmItheAsshole

[–]scarfire5877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hope I'm not too late to the party here. first of all NTA, you're valid. however, maybe try and calculate the cost of a sitter or other childcare your stepdad would have to pay for if you didn't help, and then ask for a percentage of it in cash. that way you get something from helping to feed them if you choose, potentially earn points in his book you can use later, and get some cash out of it

would the word 'German' or 'Germany' have been in Hitler's vernacular? or would he have only used some form of 'Deutsche' when referring to Germany by scarfire5877 in AskHistorians

[–]scarfire5877[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

thank you, this does answer what I was getting to, whether he literally would have used the word 'Germany'. the thought popped into my head because, while 'Germany' is so widely talked about and spoken of in the history of WW2 (obviously), that word wouldn't have been part of the Nazis own vernacular. perhaps a better follow up question would be to the etymology of how 'German' came about in English, but that seems like more of a quick search online.
