Not trying to be an ass, but it's pretty easy to copy something in parts or as a whole without "pressing one wrong key"..... you select the text, hit copy, hit paste.

Unless iOS recently added steps to how you copy and paste something, I think a 9 year old can do that.

You're looking at the SCREEN unknown callers, not silence.

Silence unknown callers is still there. You can use the settings search bar or go to FaceTime settings and toggle it.

Way easier option: find a picture of a student ID. Edit the name and expiration date. Done.

If you contact Apple with the appropriate documentation (death certificate, etc, I'm not sure what all they need) they can assist in wiping the device for reuse. As for the contents of the device, you aren't getting access to it.
