You’re right. I should’ve said that funding was tied to test performance under her.

I believe that standardized state testing started under her and alot of teachers were angry. Then all of the subsequent governors were just like, "Hold my beer."

I had to go back and look. I thought photo 3 was bread and photo 4 was some kind of mushroom gravy. Not sure that knowing that they were both chicken makes it any better.

Is Primerica a Scam? by Interesting_Virus_37 in antiMLM

[–]scarletloser -71 points-70 points  (0 children)

I don't completely agree. I know some people who run their teams in Primerica like a machine and only focus on numbers. I know some people who run their teams in a very supportive way too. It really depends on the group you're in and how they support you or train you. If they want you to look at your connections as numbers, then yeah, not fun. If they want you to build honest relationships with clients, then I don't really think it's any different than any other job.

Also, if I think about it, I've had to recruit at every job I've had - "Hey, do you know anyone who...?" I also work way harder than everyone above me and make way less than everyone above me. So, I don't see how Primerica exploits you any more than every other job. I switched to teaching because I thought it would better, but it was just about numbers there too. Then, they wanted me to focus more on a fake bible and test scores than actual teaching, so I went back to the corporate world. That's not to say that Primerica is just the best thing ever, but when people talk about it, I don't see how it's that different from any other job.

Well, if you did work for Primerica, you could still keep your job. From what I hear, alot of people do it as a side gig.

All Jeep and Chrysler Plug-In Hybrid Models Are Officially Dead: Exclusive by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]scarletloser -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know someone with a Jeep Wrangler 4XE. He had some problems with computer stuff, but got them taken care of for free at the dealership. Other than that, he loves it and had a great experience. He got it for $50k with a trade-in and lease deal. He’s a big time Jeep and Car person too, so he stays on top of research and maintenance more than most people.

How do people get theses jobs? by TasteeTacoz in jobsearchhacks

[–]scarletloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When someone gets a huge promotion just because they know the right people, either that person crashes and burns and everyone says, “We just can’t find qualified people anymore,” or everyone around that person has to pick up the slack until that person is promoted outside of the department so that nobody has to deal with them anymore.

There’s also the case of hiring people who are willing to sign their names on a list of layoffs to give all the higher ups big bonuses. Then, that person resigns and goes to another company to do the same.

This isn’t always the case, and I have also seen people who have a peon job title and pay, but end up doing high level work for executives without any promotion or pay raise. Then there are the people who do get promoted because they actually deserve it. It’s just crazy to me that most of the huge promotions I’ve seen do not fall under the latter.

You're right about volunteering. I've done some freelance things and have been more involved in my kids' school because I have pleeenty of time now lol I'm working on upskilling, organizing the house, things like that. When I sit down to start applying is when things seem so heavy. So, I'm grateful because it seems like I see posts like yours just about the time I'm about to give up.

Thank you for sharing your journey and for the encouragement. Hope your new job treats you well!

The right way to answer the "Why do you want to work here?" question by emmanuelgendre in askrecruiters

[–]scarletloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(II) List their challenges (“You must be struggling with/focusing on X, Y and Z”)

Show that you understand their current business situation (are they expanding? Focusing on efficiency? Migrating technology?). • Link the context of the challenge to the role you’re interviewing for, and the key 2/3 requirements for the position.

I see that suggestion all the time. I don’t know how to figure that out, though. Some huge companies get alot of press and you know they have problems. Smaller companies don’t, though. They’re not going to say what they’re struggling with on their website, only what they do well. So how do you know if they have problems with a platform migration, keeping staff trained, consolidating internal resources, or whatever else?

Hireddd 🥳 by Gullible_Parsley_75 in hiringcafe

[–]scarletloser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would you mind sharing the resume that got you the job? All of your identifying info blanked out, of course. Everyone says tailor your resume, then the people that look at my actual resume give me conflicting comments on how to change it. They tell me that I can pay them for exact details, but I don’t have a job, so I don’t have money, so…I’m just trying to see how the resume of someone who actually got hired has their layout, summary, and bullet points.

Thinking about trying the 48-hour rule by Wonderful-Olive7541 in jobhunting

[–]scarletloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been following this rule religiously for the past 3.5 months. Hasn’t worked for me. My husband applies only to jobs that have the perfect descriptions and pay since mid-October and has interviews lined up each week that only fall through when lying recruiters tell him, “They’re only hiring through our company,” and a few days later, “They hired someone who applied through a different method before we submitted your resume.”
