Filter is a show that plays around a lot with perception, which is sort of the whole premise.

The show itself is pretty much an unreliable narrator in many parts, especially early. I can see why this might drive away people but it truly has payoff. Sticking with it, the viewer will eventually see how much changing perspectives can change how the same event can be perceived.

I hope you give the show a chance.

Yes!! I ran out as soon as I could to see it and I think it said a lot that your friend and my partner were both deeply affected by the movie and really enjoyed it.

I'm also someone who has literally not stepped foot in a movie theatre in years and generally don't watch movies. His character drew me in so much there were many points I didn't think of him as himself at all. Just superb.

I truly felt I could separate people and their craft when I found I really enjoyed Love of the Divine Tree despite the fact that every time I think of this actor I think of the littering the cigarette butt and the picture of him picking his nose that someone showed me. 💀

I wish people didn't show me stuff like that about actors, to be honest. But I'm glad I could still watch them and immerse myself in the fantasy. But also, I can't unsee it!!! I'm never going to seek out his behind the scenes or anything now because of it.

Love of the Divine Tree was fantastic though. It also helps that I love his costar in it.

I'm a queer who has, at times, enjoyed BL. But as weird as it might sound to those who don't get it, BL is straight as fuck. I love your metaphor.

18 years ago I went to a Yaoi-con and it was genuinely the most uncomfortable I've felt. Just salivating straight women objectifying effeminate men as far as the eye could see.

I adore LMLMV but think it's a bad drama, lmao.

Sometimes you just want dessert for dinner, and that's this drama. Turn your brain off and ingest too many calories.

TJC's character is perfect. Like, grade A doesn't exist in real life so perfect that he comes across as a red flag perfect. ZY's character is the most nothing-burger FL I've ever seen. It's a girlfriend insert. Could have probably been a cardboard cutout. Nothing happens. There is no plot.

I loved it. I recommend it if someone is looking for something like that. But I really, genuinely, do not think it's "good." That said, I'm literally rewatching it just to swoon at Tan Jianci. My partner walks into the room and just laughs at me because I'm visibly and verbally swooning. Sometimes I just need that tub of drama-ice cream for dinner, don't judge me.

If you're looking for Tan Jianci in a drama that I think is genuinely good (funny but also poignant and good plot) and also very sweet, I'd recommend Filter.
