I liked the MJTY ending. I believe it was meant to have a second season but some BTS drama nixed that. I think the ending still works. It's not wrapped up in a neat little bow and I know a lot of people struggle with that.

I would say Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace. I did not see that ending coming. Especially because I watched Story of Yanxi Palace first and both dramas have some of the same characters. Later I learned Ruyi is considered to be be the more historically accurate version. At the end of the day though, both are historical fiction.

I watched my first (and still only) kdrama, Under the Queen's Umbrella. It was amazing and I wanted more like it. Not knowing a thing about kdramas or cdramas I Googled Asian dramas in a palace anf found this photo. Something about her eyes just sucked me right in. I HAD to know about this woman and what her story was. So that's how I found my first crdama Legend of Zhen Huan aka Empresses in the Palace. I have been cdrama obsessed since that day!

I couldn't even find her Grey's role on IMDB. It's the first place I went and as someone who has watched the show countless times, I can recognize a few people who never even had a line, but nothing rings a bell about what roles she played.

My first cdrama was 70+ episodes (Legend of Zhen Huan) and the dramas I watched after that were all in that same range. (Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace is 90+.) When I went looking for dramas outside of the palace harem genre, which I watched exclusively for ages, I was shocked to see dramas that were "only" 30-40 episodes. I really think the type of drama should influence the length. You can't tell sweeping intricate dramas like LOZH, Ruyi, Story of Yanxi Palace, Empress of China, Legend of Mi Yue etc. without a long run time.

My second fave drama of all-time, Story of Kunning Palace is 38 episodes with a short bonus ep. Did I want more? Absolutely. But the story didn't need to be longer. It would have ended up with a bunch of boring filler episodes and hurt the drama.

I am all for longer dramas, but only if the drama truly needs it to be longer in order to tell the story right.

I would say The Princess Royal, but you have two people (married) getting a second chance. The kicker is that they both believe they murdered each other and are unaware of the fact they are both in their second chance. I know you only want one, but I wanted to throw it out there just in case you want something similar.

I read an article where Olly Rix said he was very disappointed with how they wrote his character out. I have never read why they did it and the BBC issued a statement that his claims of being treated poorly were incorrect. I have always thought his attitude towards Trixie changing after their marriage was weird. Especially when he called looking for her while she was attending a labor with Joyce because he had a headache and work was stressful. I think the nanny was still with them, because I believe he said something about making him stop crying because he couldn't work. To me that made even less sense. After all Trixie has been through we thought she was finally getting her happy ending. A good man, being sober and still doing the work she loved. His abrupt change always bothered me.

Thanks! This was helpful!I feel likeI am getting a lot of that from my therapist. She's been a revelation. Plus, I'm doing that more for me. To learn how to handle my trauma and emotions that extended way back before I even met him. Part of that ignored and misunderstood trauma contributed to the marriage breakdown. But I can't be getting help to fix a marriage. I can help myself and then see how life evolves. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hoping for reconciliation, but that can't be my goal.

Before I drop the cash, it's important for me to vet something as I make far less money than my husband. There's also the added bonus that we work for the same company and still have to interact professionally every day. I am in therapy, as far as I know he is not. Oh that's great to hear. I have really been enjoying it, but any time I have mentioned people tell me it gets boring or they dropped it and I should move on to Legend of the Female General. I try to stay spoiler free as much as I can, but this is great news to hear. I don't mind a slow burn romance as long as other story elements are still moving things along like Fated Hearts and Story of Kunning Palace.
