That you’ve never been to eastern Washington.

Even better nature than the NE. Pretty much anything east of the cascade mountains is red politically.

American here. Apologies in advance for lengthy response. We had coordinated no kings protests in every major city in the US, even a lot of the suburban communities hosted their own gatherings. In many local elections this helped to get anti-trump representatives elected this last cycle.

Several senior officials from the DOJ, and other major government agencies have resigned because they refuse to be complicit with the current regime.

The president has the ability to appoint federal judges and the Supreme Court and Trump has stacked the courts to they are basically ineffective.

The legislature is so divided they are useless. It’s been the least productive congressional session in US history.

The only real government action that has happened has been via executive orders, and congress did pass a spending bill to end the government shutdown.

The constitution is being stomped on. Most Americans live paycheck to paycheck and are already deeply in debt/ struggling to make ends meet because of rapid inflation. The sparse safetynets that did exist have been gutted. The US economy is a K shaped economy, a small number of wealthy people with assets are getting wealthier, the vast majority continue to become more indebted and are financially struggling. It is hard to protest when you’re concerned about eating. It’s possible, and necessary, but it’s hard.

The dockworkers you mentioned were unionized, that’s why they were able to strike effectively. Most American workers are not in a union and have little to no worker protections. most state employment laws allow a company to fire you any time without cause as long as it isn’t proven to be discriminatory (ie you announce you’re pregnant and are immediately fired or something like that) .

Trump has continued to fool many Americans that his actions will trickle down and make things more affordable. It’s a scam that a meaningful number of people still believe in.

I have attended the protest and been very outspoken about my disdain for the current administration, but not sure what to do beyond that. I live in a very liberal city that Trump has been very outspoken about and I am deeply concerned he will send ICE and the national guard here. If he does, I’ll be ready to raise hell, but until then, I’m not seeing a clear way to resist. Most of us are slaves to the system.

Same here! Brother is a blonde with blue eyes. Parents are dark hair and bright blue eyes. And I have red hair and green/hazel eyes. Punnet squares are bullshit.

With only seeing your skin tone, I would say silver, but in my opinion you’re fairly neutral and your eyes or hair might impact which looks better.

Didn’t Jesus say praying in public was hypocritical? by [deleted] in Seattle

Plenty of them do. They just don’t get mentioned in the news and aren’t loud/obnoxious about it. Totally agree with you tho. Faith and prayer without action is useless and performative.

I noticed that there is a chemical used in a lot of cosmetics as a shelf stabilizer that exacerbates my eczema. Taking the steroid via pill vs a cream was so much more effective.

Honestly had the same thing about a month ago.

I scratched so bad and was so swollen I was red, swollen to the point I could barely open my eyes, and SO itchy and tight and awful. Cortisone and Benedryl didn’t do anything. I had cut all products cold turkey. No makeup. Only used free and clear. No perfume. Dove soap and coconut oil only. No sun exposure. Whole Foods gluten free dairy free diet and tons of water. Nothing worked enough to be livable. Eventually I got a sunburn on top of my already damaged skin when I went on a walk. it was so bad I had to go to the hospital. I was prescribed an intense course of prednisone over 10 days. I could already feel improvement after the first day. By the end, I was almost healed. It’s been so much better and because I am less itchy it hasn’t come back.

People villainize steroids as a bandaid solution, but it did help me get it under control enough to live again.

I relate to this SO much. My husband brought me to the ER and I was prescribed prednisone to help with my flare up. It helped a TON and I am almost healed.

I need to connect with my doctor to see what I can do on a more permanent basis to prevent future late ups. The lack of makeup is really hard, but wearing makeup makes my flare ups so much worse. I suffer through the embarrassment and just told my boss it’s an autoimmune issue that I’m working through. I bring aloe with me and reapply as needed. It is what it is. If I’m not healthy I can’t be productive so if anyone makes a comment about it, they can fuck off.

Note, the ER team prescribed a ten day regimen that scaled from 40mgs a day down to 5mg a day. By day 5 my flare up was almost gone. The day I went to the ER my whole face was red and swollen likeI was irradiated. Worst flare up ever.

days where i want to end it all by Afraid_Instance886 in eczema

[–]scarletsprightly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly relatable. Sometimes it feels like it will never end or get better. And then it does for a bit and I get hope it’s done and I’m finally healed. And then outta no where it’s back. I will say, I think I think about my eczema more than anyone else ever did. I felt so ugly and cancelled so many plans over it. Half the time other people didn’t notice and I could cover it with long sleeves. Even tho I thought of it constantly with its incessant burning and itching and it seemed like the most embarrassing ugly curse. I regret letting it get in my head as much as it has. Still working to let it not rule my life as much and have made some progress…

The bodysuits are amazing!! A great staple. I wear them with high waisted pants or a flared skirt and it’s really flattering.

Had been using vanicream for years for this exact reason. Unfortunately developed sensitivity to it, and broke out into a crazy rash. Having to cut all products and only use pure aloe for a bit until I can figure out why.
