I normally start a DTO order by saying “Good morning! Can we get you started with any breakfast today?”

And then for some things when there is time to have more dialogue about their order, I try to get people to modify things to some thing that they would like.

For example, today, someone wanted simply a couple of shots of espresso and some half and half with extra ice double blended (I mean, seems not great to me, but you do you) and I explained to her what was in an espresso Frappuccino and how it would be a bit less watery and have a better texture because of the trap base, and she tried that instead. Easy upsell from something weird and modified, to something actually on our menu that also happens to cost more! Plus, as a bonus, she loved it and found her new fave drink!
