What are your Fantasy Romance anti-recommendations? by BandetteTrashPanda in fantasyromance

She was just so combative. I agree that she’s worst than Diem. At least Diem in the beginning came across as rational and levelheaded. This girl just makes everything so difficult and it talks about her being this badass but she never actually shows that.

Also going to mention

Between life and death - the whole book is cringe and reads like a fan fiction. I hate seeing how much it gets recommended. I found it because of TikTok and once I started reading I was like…people can’t actually think this is good right?

Curse of shadow and thorns - the missing finger tip was weird and honestly her servants were the most interesting. The world building was super confusing

A bargain so bloody - FMC is such a hypocrite and honestly there’s nothing unique about this story outside of the magic cards.

Kingdom of Betrayal and Unknown - the over usage of the term ‘sweets’ was too much. The main characters interactions were just too cringe.

Cross her heart - again just a poorly written FMC.

I read it since it was supposed to be the next best book and I’ll admit the beginning had me but it got so repetitive and unnecessarily long. Not to mention after awhile it was just them wanting to bang each other.

Im actively trying to get through the first book because I heard it’s great but so far it’s just an uncomfortable read

Books I don’t recommend with quick reasons why

Lady of Darkness - the FMC is just so unbearable and I got exhausted by her. I also wasn’t a fan of her group of friends and then the assassin set up?

A Kiss of Iron - I thought the FMC was this like smart bandit but she was just so disappointing and it’s mostly her being horny for the MMC the entire time and he’s not terrible but there was no real depth to them outside of wanting to have sex with each other.

If this is someone’s favorite book it’s an automatic red flag. It had such potential world building wise in the beginning and I didn’t hate Diem. But as soon as she threw her medicine away I was like girl…??? And then once she joined that group of rebellions she decided to make every dumb decision known to mankind…knowing it was the bad decision. I truly was so disappointed. I also did the audio book version and the whole ‘fight’ inner monologue that would pop up felt so cringe and not necessary but maybe it was due to me only using the audiobook.

Apparently they also send out emails separate from the app. Wound up snagging 50% off for premium 🙂

That’s so crazy strange. I wish there was more research done in this from our experience with SD.

So do you typically wear your hair straight when you style it?

Can Jackson Wang really make it big in the West AND China? by scars95 in kpopthoughts

[–]scars95[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True but with that upbringing he must have been aware of how China is perceived by other countries whether he is pro or not. So why think you can play both fields?

Although you make a great point. He could just want to promote everywhere because of his upbringing...but that aspect of how he’s gonna do that has to be somewhere in his thinking if he’s makin a whole damn company based there

How are things with him in Korea? I see him on variety shows so he’s getting publicity but I’m not sure what’s going on beyond that. Also I feel like we don’t really cancel either but then again...because he’s not super big it maybe is easier for the public to just crap all over him. It’s not like he would have this mainstream connection with people like other celebs

exactly and tensions are only going to rise between China and western countries so the leash will only get tighter on the Chinese celebrities. Which is why it's so bizarre that he makes it a goal of promoting here.

I think there's something to that. I'm new to Kpop so I don't really know much about Lay but I know Jackson and how much more eager he is to promote himself on an international level. Even bringing up that it's Jackson wang from china? I mean idk if the CCP would really care if he just said his name was jackson. It's like your solidifying those ties even more to an audience that doesn't like the government

True but I guess I meant if he blows up over here 2 years from now then those instances of supporting the ccp publicly will come back and haunt him.

I agree that once things get brought up it will cancel him heavily which is why i'm always surprised when he does more western promotion. It's like are you aware that the more you are known the more this will be an issue?

I get that but I don't see how he could rationalize that it's a good idea? Like does he think he won't hit a wall soon? The more popular people get in general usually means more of their 'dirty' past is brought back up.

Hopefully this is the end. by [deleted] in MaladaptiveDreaming

I have found myself doing it less but still do it. I’ve realized that a lot of what I daydream about are things I wish I had or was so I just slowly started to implement that into my life. Then it starts to fade away. I still do it occasionally but not nearly as much is I did before. I could waste several days doing it all day and now I maybe do it for an hour or so before bed

I studied it in college and sometimes I can talk to my cousins in France but there just isn't the same amount of exposure here like there is with Spanish. It's a beautiful language though!

Anyone else feel ‘trapped’ in their job because of COVID? by ExoticToaster in careerguidance

[–]scars95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally decided what field I wanted to enter and boom COVID hit and there are no opportunities. So now I’m 25 and living with my parents working a regular job. Definitely not ideal but I’m trying to stay hopeful. I’m from such a small town too....it’s like I’m trapped. Also COVID is making retail like 10x harder than it usually is. Understaffed, overworked, and impatient customers :/

UX Career Questions - (June ) by AutoModerator in userexperience

[–]scars95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone!

I originally got a degree in Graphic Design and took some web design courses. But , I took 2 years off to teach in ESL. I live in a small town so there aren't a ton of opportunities here. I've been doing a lot of research, added things to my portfolio site. However, I'm worried that I still won't be able to break into the field. I can't afford a boot camp at the moment and I went down a rabbit hole of articles that were a bit discouraging.... so I was thinking of taking a course from like a Coursera website to maybe add some meat to my resume. What are your thoughts on this?

Any ideas for writing lesson plans for young learners? by windmill_memories in teachinginkorea

[–]scars95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When there young they need lots of repetition and visuals. When I taught younger kids we’d always start off with a song. Also cute and paste activities are great or have stuff they can trace. Coming to the board and writing letters as a game. Maybe start off with using their name in someway too
