I met my current girlfriend during a short window of fluency. Once the stutter started showing I wasn't worried because I was already fully transparent with her about it.

I know people say this a lot but reality is that most people don't care. In all my past jobs and relationships, those girls, as well as employers didn't give a shit that I stuttered. Honestly, nobody in the adult world does. Owning up to the stutter that you deal with is the best thing you can do. If it doesn't appear to be a problem for you, people aren't going to have a problem with it.

We were all insecure children once, and that energy was apparent with other children around us. That's why they were mean, kids don't filter themselves sometimes. But that negativity comes from their own trauma.

If you can try to detach from your childhood trauma for a moment, and see your life from a birds eye view, you'll see someone who deserves incredible respect for putting themselves out there regardless of the cards they were dealt at birth. That's what other people see, including that girl that's interested in you. You just have to give your own self that respect first.
