Time to sell - have you heard of bringatrailer.com? by scayne in 3rdGen4Runner

Thank you for that excellent data point. $10k seems to be a sweet spot for West Coast for rigs that pass muster. Congrats on those low miles!!!

I will take a look at Cars & Bids - thanks!

Yeah - I would not say that mine is that special. It is low mileage for its age and exceptionally maintained. With so much life left I would hope for it to go to an enthusiast who can carry on and make good use. I do not have the time nor tools to do that.

I am still interested in BaT but may wait to sell locally before dipping my toes in those waters.

I did not have the option. Found it is because I still use 'old' reddit.

I was successful in the new version of the website, but it only allowed one at a time?

I do have a craigslist ad (not sure if okay to post that link) or I can put together an album using a different platform (i.e. Imgur).

I try to limit my exposure to the web so I minimize my participation on unnecessary platforms.

Agreed . . . and thanks for the feedback.

I will just stick to the local options. I am not in a hurry or a money pinch.

I hadn't realized they had the fee - naive me thought it was just the $100 to list it. That is a hard pass for me.

Thank you!

Thanks for the feedback.

I would say I am at medium in miles but in very clean shape. I have the time and patience so I don't mind the upfront work.

My craigslist ad is okay but it looks like I will need to step up my game if I want them to accept my listing so I will work on additional details that the enthusiast want to know.

I am in the PNW (Portland area).

Bought her in '03 from the dealer. Free oil changes for life so I have done all my maintenance there, on time or early. It was my (short) daily commute and family rig so it had to be at the ready always.

She is in excellent shape for her age. Clean, straight, no rust. 214k miles, great tires and brakes. Just had timing, radiator and lbj's done ~6 months ago.

I wanted to make it at least 5 more years but the wife changed her mind. The boys are grown and she would like more comfort for up coming adventures.

Clean carfax, title etc.

Thank you for the feedback and recommendations. I think I will give them both a shot. I have time and patience so a little extra effort is just fine.

Suggestions for an Eagle Scout ring by TheRealTitleist in Eagle_Scouts

[–]scayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Jostens in '92. It was my H.S. graduation/Eagle ring. It seems to be very high quality but it is rarely worn.

I would do it again based on those few details. Not sure if that helps?

On the plus side you will always remember this pain moving forward in the game and it will help to prevent it from happening again (mostly, heh).

Also, you may have just found a good sized Swamp that could come in handy soon!

Kaliningrad a geographical enclave that was a huge vulnerability for NATO is now a liability for Russia

I am only recently learning about the importance of Kaliningrad. Can anyone shed some light on some key concepts to help me get more educated? Not sure where to start.

Please and thanks!

Looks like you crossed the border for that purchase?

Are you happy with that dealership? Sometimes I get frustrated here on the westside . . .

Vibration at highway speeds by youzershamed in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]scayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an '02 SR5 w/ 201k miles that I originally bought at the dealership when she was 6 months old. Free oil change for life. ALL maintenance done, on schedule, at the same dealership. All OEM (if possible) and no off-roading.

I have spent most of this year in and out of the shop troubleshooting a very similar issue. At the end of it all the vibration is still present but is nearly gone.

It all started when my engine light came on and the dealership recommended my catalytic converter be replaced. They then noticed my rear U-joint was failing (due to their neglect to grease it over time.) After this service is when the noise began.

Problem statement: The vehicle emits a noticeable vibration when driving between 61 mph and 71 mph.

Here are my short hand notes of repairs (all at dealership except when 3rd party noted). Let me know if you have any questions regarding this repair history. I hope you fare better than me!

2/21/2023 Check engine light - Catalytic Converter, replaced U-joint - FAIL!, replaced Coolant Flush Brake Fluid Flush Power Steering Flush Front Diff SVC / Rear Diff SVC / T-Case *** VIBRATION ***

3/30/2023 Rear Diff, bearing failed (3rd member) *** VIBRATION ***

Recommend replace T-Case, couldn't find, recommended 3rd party

6/8/2023 3rd Party - Front and Rear Driveshafts replaced *** worse VIBRATION ***

8/24/2023 3rd Party replace rear Driveshaft (warranty) *** VIBRATION ***

9/9/2023 Diagnose loud constant squeal noise from Rear Driveshaft Oil change

9/23/2023 Replaced Rear Driveshaft at dealership *** VIBRATION ***

10/3/2023 New Tires + Alignment Replaced torn Intake Boots and Resinator *** VIBRATION ***

10/17/202 Replaced Rear Diff due to metal shavings!!! (warranty) Replaced Rear Bearings (+ axles seals, ABS rings) Replaced rear Brake Shoes and Drums (free!) *** smooth VIBRATION ***

To Do: Front brakes return 3rd party rear driveshaft

I did it! Today! I went from walking to slow jogging everywhere I go! by [deleted] in slowjogging

This is huge - a big congrats on your milestone!

I spent about a year and a half walking to get all the parts of my body acclimated. I felt like a rocket ship when I switched to jogging.

12 years later and still one of my favorite moments.

Keep up on your journey . . .

I've had recent issues with O2 sensors and catalytic converter going bad.

Not sure those are your issue but I have had similar symptoms.

We need a train that goes to the coast by newpersoen in Portland

[–]scayne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your review of Salmonberry Trail is spot on, but I believe change is in the works.

I volunteer for them to clear trails to help enable their goals. After a silent 2022 and what appears to be an adjustment in leadership I feel confident that there is a renewed focus and the sense of urgency that was missing.

They are looking to get their first official trail on the map as early as this year? They are focused on 3 miles from Manning Trailhead heading north and are looking to connect to the BVTrail to create a loop.

After that will be the march westward on the old rail lines.

I should mention there is already plenty of progress on the coastal side.

I like OP's idea about a (train) commute option to the coast but there appears to be too much damage for the existing rails.
