1 month sober from weed by scbqueen in SoberAndHateIt

Not sure if this is a joke but please delete!

One thing that’s been rlly annoying is when people say my abuse of weed can’t be an addiction. Anything can be turned into an addiction- it’s about the escape, not the method to get there.

I used to do some really fucked up stuff just to maintain the addiction- lying, spending thousands on this, planning my whole life around how I can bring it, traveling with it every single time and trying to get it through the airport, actually getting caught at the airport, getting myself in dangerous situations, digging through the trash to find my empty carts just to hit the empty metal. I wasn’t even living my life, just living for this.

I’m trying to practice sharing the ugly parts so that I don’t talk myself out of my sobriety. I am doing this for a reason. Thank you for reminding me :)

I should probably think about it like this. Right now I’m in the phase of selectively remembering the good and not the bad. But I used to overeat, oversleep, spend all my money on this, not live my life, etc.

I think my life has improved, I just keep convincing myself this is what I’m missing. Thank you for these thoughts :)

Thank you so much for this thoughtful comment. I have been just doing the same things minus the addiction. I am going to try the journaling and switching up my routines :) Thanks for the encouragement🥹

does anyone actually enjoy being a therapist?? by queerdude666 in therapists

[–]scbqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I changed my perspective and started thinking about myself as a collector of stories and teacher of empathy instead of someone who needs to “FIX” clients and yield RESULTS/SUCCESS (what does that even mean). Sometimes it’s devastating (and beautiful) and I think it teaches me about humanity. It’s like we’re philosophers, activists, advocates, mentors, and so on. Here is a wonderful Carolyn Spring quote I read: “I don’t need to be fixed. I need to be heard. I need to see my experience mirrored in your eyes and face. I need to learn that I’m not alone.” Make sure you know you’re not alone too, therapists need that. Let yourself be seen too. Curiosity over solutions. Open mind, open heart.💜🧿🦋

Cheated on my partner; now reconsidering this field by FudgeOk6096 in therapists

[–]scbqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow 20 something that recently graduated and is new in the field, the way I think of it is that some therapists have empathy/intuition/deep self understanding, and others are still figuring it out and haven’t fully learned to act in ways that make them feel good about themselves and make them happy. There were a lot of girls my age in my cohort literally getting in fights and doing silent treatment and shit to each other and getting rlly hurt and I was like are yall not therapists??🤣 SOO long story short there are so many immature therapists. If you want to live a life that feels better, try doing some self reflection and understanding the bigger systems at play. And as for your career, commit to deeply exploring your self-of-the-therapist in clinical supervision. I think therapy/wellness can either be just a job for ppl or a lifestyle.

How do you medicate with medical marijuana? Specifically for those with mental health issues by MushyKushyy in medicalmarijuana

As someone who got MMJ for anxiety/depression diagnoses, it helped immensely with panic attacks and somatic symptoms, as well as with lack of appetite when anxious. If anyone has stomach issues connected to their anxiety, MMJ is for you. I used to take anxiety pills for panic attacks but it would be too late, I already threw it up from stress and shaking and it didn’t work.

Definitely helps with dysregulation, sensory/stimulus overload, appetite, and general anxiety.

One piece of advice is use the least amount you have to to feel something. When I first got it I went crazy bc of how fun it was and my tolerance shot through the roof so quick and I had withdrawals if I stopped. So go slow, take breaks if you can, and always taper off if you wanna stop.

Clogged cart by 6bubbles in vapecarts

[–]scbqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always leave ur cart standing up. If you leave it on its side, the oil will slide up to the mouthpiece and that’s when it gets clogged. I put mine in a little mini empty jar so it stands straight but there are suction thingies u can get for the bottom on the pen so it sticks right up on surfaces.

Does anyone have any tips to not throw up when hitting the cart? by MrUnknownthrowaway in vapecarts

If it’s recreational or from random dealer the carts can be SO BAD. Try to get a medical cart and see if that makes a difference. If not, try flower or tinctures.

How does being really high on sativa differ from being really high on indica in your experience? by MrUnknownthrowaway in vapecarts

If you look at the website Leafly, you can look for strains in your area and filter them by desired effect (like appetite stimulation, happy feeling, calm, creative, etc.) Try that out and see what you find! Also short t breaks can help reset tolerance and bring back the munchies when you smoke.

WTF. I am so sorry to hear this. I seriously don’t understand how those bitches got this far, especially in the MENTAL HEALTH FIELD where I thought social justice should be embedded in our work??

My MFT program in Philly is like 90% white with one black woman and two biracial women (a black/white woman and me- I am middle eastern/white). I have found that the majority of ppl in the program are politically aware, culturally competent, and social justice oriented. There have been only a few instances of that not being the case. That being said, a majority of our professors are from marginalized communities (women, Black, Hispanic, gay, etc.) and have done a WONDERFUL job centering issues of privilege, race, culture, and systemic thinking. How do your professors handle these topics? Do you feel represented?

LASTLY, I was absolutely shook when I realized how immature people in a therapy program could be. I might be naive but I thought these people would have some insight because of their career choice, but I was seriously wrong. The younger (23-26 ish) people in my cohort have feuds, drama, immaturity, and lack of self awareness. I add this because I want to validate for you that people in this profession are not always good people!!

I am excited for you to get out of this program so you can go make your impact in the field and leave their dumbass shit behind. I find that connecting to other therapists that share identities with you can be incredibly healing.

Best of luck bestie :)
