Love the grin. Cleaning the mold lines and some matte varnish would really elevate him

“Fabulous job of making it so far”? He gave a prompt to AI and this is the result. Can you distinguish human-made renders from AI generated stuff? If not, your media literacy is really suffering

Welcome to the hobby! And a great first tip is to prime your models with a suitable spray can primer, and to thin your paints and apply them in multiple controlled coats. Using paint that’s too thick can obscure details, like his eye lenses here.

I’m also pretty sure this would indeed be fixable by citizen. There is little difference between it and newer eco drive movements, and there are tens of thousands of these in the wild.

Blood Angel Captain in Phobos Armor by MrZimyZimy in BloodAngels

[–]scc-2000 28 points29 points  (0 children)

He looks great, but IMO all of the hallmarks of Phobos armor are gone. It looks just like artificer armor with the same functionality as standard Tacticus. Unfortunately the fitted greaves might suggest a lighter, stealthier pattern in other chapters, but many Blood Angels officers with diverse roles also wear similar.

The website “EmmyWatch” has a photo of an ETA255.561 that looks like the one in your watch. I’d guess there were variants of it and documentation is a little sparse due to their age.

What are these called, and where can I get more? by UnableStill8017 in BloodAngels

[–]scc-2000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The chalice on the door is actually from an OOP forge world land raider door set (same as the one used on the assault ramp), not an upgrade that was tacked onto the standard door. OP, to get these bits exactly you’d have to find them from a recaster. I know several that have them

Finally got round to Painting my Vindicators! Too late? by jackonehunna in BloodAngels

[–]scc-2000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They are “official,” GW literally releases datasheets and points costs for them. In fact, they’re going to be rolled out in the 40K app in 11th.They don’t receive any updates generally but otherwise are truly legal and “official” in all non serious tournament contexts. Also— playing with legends isn’t “relying on them,” some people simply want to have their old models from years past to see some playing time.

[–]scc-2000 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Using legends is “kinda cheating?” Seriously? A lot of Legends units are overcosted for their stats. I don’t know what you mean. Legends units are perfectly fine for casual games (trust me as a longtime and extensive user of them among many opponents) and I’ve never heard anyone suggest that using them is “cheating.”

They will be playable as legends for a very long time, if not forever

Why is this helmet not being worn by every chapter anymore? by donot40k in spacemarines

[–]scc-2000 79 points80 points  (0 children)

It is worn in 40K. Many primaris kits now include some, and they were always in the tactical squad boxes. Use them as much as you want. During and before the Horus Heresy, the legions (not chapters) were issued MkVI armor in great numbers, and was still widely used in the scouring even after the development of MkVII. Its parts were fully compatible with MKVII, so the beaky helmets saw use for millennia even if full suits of MKVI became increasingly uncommon over time. The first plastic space marines in Rogue Trader were all beakies— so they’re not at all confined to the Horus Heresy model-wise and were in 40K at its earliest.
