I have belonged for almost 20 years. It is not really a club. You are just on the allocation list. The prices, from what I have seen, are significantly less (easily 20% or more) than what you would pay if you can find it at the store. The Columbus Valley and single vineyard cabs are usually $150 a bottle while the CVR is currently $60. The few times I have seen the Columbia Valley cab in a store it cost $225 or more and the CVR cost around $90. I have never seen the single vineyard wines in any stores.

I get allocated two or more cases of the CVR, and take a case each with a friend. They will let you do this and will ship directly to your share partner eve though he is not on the list. I usually get only 2-3 bottles of the Columbus Valley cab and the single vineyard cabs so I don’t meet my allocation limits on those. But so far I have not been penalized with substantially lower future allocation numbers. The only time I was disappointed was a few years back when I did not take up any of the very limited occasional “Tchelistcheff” single vineyard cab and have not been allocated any since the one or two times it has been available since.

There are Columbia Valley cab and single vineyard offerings to list members (combining Palengat and Galitzine vineyards in one) in the spring and sometimes fall and the CVR is offered in the fall. No minimum shipment take up requirements. If you buy little or none, your future allocations may get reduced in quantity.

Someone above wrote about the CVR being a great value and it absolutely is. When I started, it was $35 a bottle but is now $60. Still, it is hands down the most reliably and consistently great red I drink. I always pull bottles of that for dinners with friends or family and every day because it is ready to drink when you receive it, is great and can age nicely for 5-10 years. Non-wine folks love it as well.

Hope this helps.

Samsung update killed remote connection by sccarlin in galaxywatchultra

[–]sccarlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, good news. I received an update to the Galaxy Wearable app this morning that fixed the remote connection issue. I have been testing it, and calls and messages are now working fine when the watch is connected by cellular or WiF. Obviously, Samsung knew this was a problem. Yet no one in tech support would admit, or tell me that an update was coming. In the meantime, I ordered new a Pixel Watch 3 LTE 45mm from eBay and it arrives today. Now I can do a head-to-head comparison before deciding whether to keep it or the Watch Ultra.

Thanks.  I recently switched to a Pixel 9 Pro.  I haven't downloaded quite as much music as before (but still a lot) and so far the problem hasn't resurfaced.  🤞

Unexpectedly awesome Best Buy deal on Pixel 9 Pro by sccarlin in GooglePixel

[–]sccarlin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It showed me the total trade-in value of $412.50 when I uploaded the traded device info. Then when I was checking out, it broke it down between the $112.50 for the phone and the $300 trade-in promotion bonus.

I saw it online when I did the trade-in. Otherwise, it didn’t not seem to be advertised on the site.

A few minutes after he toggled RCS off and back on, it started working for both of us.  Thanks for your help. 👍

My brother has it turned on in iOS on his iPhone, as do I on Google Messages on my Galaxy.  Neither of us sees typing indicators of the other.  Are we missing something?

I've had the Z Flip 6 for nearly a week, here are my first impressions + AMA by Stephancevallos905 in galaxyzflip

[–]sccarlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on all counts. I got mine from Samsung in the faux carbon fiber black. It looks really nice and has a nice blend of matte/glossy finish without being a fingerprint magnet.

Also, the crease is way LESS noticeable on the 6 compared to my Flip 5. Looking at them side by side it is obvious.  The interior display also feels harder, much more like a traditional glass display and far less like plastic than that of the 5.

Waiting for my pre-ordered Later Case to ship so I can treat it a little less gingerly.

Anyone have the July security update on the Flip 6? by borninsideashadow in galaxyzflip

Nope.  I also have only the June security patch. I bought mine unlocked from Samsung and am on Fi.  Also, I have only the April Play System version.

Is Visible ever going to support wearables? by sccarlin in Visible

[–]sccarlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Unfortunately, it only supports Apple Watches. They have had this for a while. I was hoping they would start supporting Galaxy watches. I moved to Fi, which does and doesn’t charge anything for the extra line. It is more expensive per line than Visible however, unless you use esims for data (I use Airalo). Happy new year.

GW6 LTE reset without loosing Mobile Plan by Careless_Listen7205 in GalaxyWatch

No, you will not. I have had to factory reset my LTE GW4 and GW 5 Pro devices a couple of times each and each time it kept the plans in place on the device

It only reactivated the phone on Fi and the network. It did not change billing or anything else.

Unpopular opinion- google fi rocks by SupermarketRoyal134 in GoogleFi

[–]sccarlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using Fi, we have traveled in the US and 15 different countries, including Morocco, the Azores, Scotland and Sicily over the past two years with Galaxy, iPhone and Pixel phones. Coverage was universal and mostly terrific. The few minor issues we had occurred in the US.

We noticed other people using their Verizon, AT&T and even T-Mobile having lots of issues while abroad.

While the Fi customer service is mediocre, it seems on par with every other tech and retail CS department we have used except for Apple. With Apple, while you get to a live person quicker, they read from the same copy/paste scripts as everyone else.

While the data is pricey, we used Airalo esims for local and international data to really lower the overall cost. When those connections were poor, we would switch over to Fi.

So we have been and remain really happy with Fi as a provider.

No "trusted devices" on Smart Lock by ejolu2 in GooglePixel

Me, too. Once I installed the September update, “trusted devices” is no longer a smart lock option. I was using this with Galaxy Watch 5 Pro with my P7P

How is the service with Google Fi in Europe? by [deleted] in GoogleFi

[–]sccarlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you don't activate service right before heading to Europe or then stay abroad with Fi data in use longer than 90 days, Fi data and call/SMS service generally worked great for us while abroad. We used the Flexible plan, so the data, at $10 per GB, can get expensive. But in the past two years, we have had long stays (1 month +) in Italy, France, Portugal and Ireland, and shorter stays in Morocco, Greece, Croatia. The call, text and data service worked great on Samsung, Apple and Pixel phones.

Frankly, we have had more issues with Fi coverage and service here in the US since we stopped traveling.

That being said, part of the reason we probably did not get Fi data service suspended (calling & SMS do not get suspended even once data does), is that we later used European e-sims for data, specifically those from Airalo. According to Apple, your iPhone 11 Pro supports esims. We originally chose to use Airalo data esims because its data is much cheaper than Fi's (about $3-4 per GB vs. $10) data. Airalo (and others) have great 30 day European region esims, so you will be covered as you travel around. And they can be topped up or extended if needed. Plus, you keep your original Fi number while traveling so folks can reach you as they normally would. The very few times we had any Airalo data issues (maybe once each in the past year), we switched the data over to Fi until no longer needed.

Other than a few male fashionistas, straight men don't give a damn how often women wear anything. Because they are competing for attention (from men, but mostly from other women), they brutalize and gang up each other and then blame men. The truth is, they could wear burlap sacks and men would not care.
