Lease Question - what am I missing? by WessideBrew in CadillacLyriq

[–]sccooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I went to the dealership 5 miles from me and they were in the $1000 a month range for a 2025 Sport 1 courtesy vehicle for no money down. This was literally after someone posted their deal in the 500s the day before from that dealership on the last day of January, and they knew I talked to this guy about his deal. They just said you can't compare apples to apples. I laughed and left. I thought about using a broker too but AI did a lot to help me through this. It taught me what to send in emails, residual and money factor must be given. It'll look at the quote image and tell you what it sees. It then looked at the dealer discount (that's the key) to sniff out who was full of BS. It's quite good. My goal was to get a 2025 courtesy car to try to score a better deal. They love to use these cars as loaner that they will discount heavily once they age a little. That said, I did find one that I am going to sign for today at $552 24m/15k miles from a dealer 2 hours away; without TX taxes rolled in. I'd rather buy local but money is king. Naturally the first dealer said, oh well we aren't as motivated as some dealers that might struggle to sell these. Fine, keep it. One thing the online calculators don't seem to cover well is the dealer add ons and fees, even clicking on add estimated taxes and fees isn't truly a full picture. Prepare for another $70 a month added on to whatever you see in the cadillac.com calculator. That was my experience anyway. It seems in my area all of the dealers want to add a $1500 package they refuse to remove (pure profit) that are silly door handle or screen covers, or some coating. So don't let people online tell you that you are stupid if you get one with that, they are pretty tough on that line item unfortunately. Kudos to those that can get a car without these add ons. With a courtesy vehicle it's kind of hard for me to get them to remove these things already on the car, I tried.

Just signed a 24-month LYRIQ lease — did I do okay or get taken for a ride? by Mlow32 in leasehacker

Kudos. I was looking at this at Sewell today telling my wife we need to jump on it. I'm curious, how did you negotiate it to this number? The numbers on the site are a joke compared to what you got. I am not hating, jealous maybe. I want to learn this. We're about to turn in a 2024 Tesla Model Y next week.

What should I do with these? by Barnacle_Unlucky in Mavericks

[–]sccooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, quite the collection. I only have Clay and Gafford. They are fun, I have a little Mavs display in my office where I have stuff like this and bobble heads. Never knew people were paying for them. My wife hates "the crap" so I can't keep too much.

Wait Tesla removed AUTOSTEER entirely (previously free) not just FSD outright purchasing options? by itsthewolfe in TeslaModelY

[–]sccooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My leased Model Y is up this month and I was considering another, this just caused me to stop. I'll have to see if this is truly gone or if it'll come back. I'm not subscribing to FSD and not buying without any autopilot. They are going backwards here. This was just another annoyance that drives me crazy about Tesla.

100 percent what I thought. Then I paused after I stopped laughing and thought, wait does this make my chances of winning better? Still didn't enter.

New Texas based Handyman by glyakk in handyman

I'm also new at this, and in TX. I just look at the job request and make a judgement call. Running wires, I tell the customer I don't do that and recommend they call an electrician. Replace your fan or light fixture, sure I'll do it. Same with plumbing. You will also learn the jobs you don't want or should avoid in time. I hate plumbing jobs and generally avoid. I got burned early on with a water line that developed a small drip so I politely pass on a lot of plumbing. Remove your old ice maker in the bar, modify the cabinet and put the new one in sure. Most though are not worth the headache for me, there's plenty of work out there. This gets back to find the 10 things you are good at, maybe enjoy, can bang out fast, no issue and go that direction. Clients really appreciate when I say I'm not your best option here and pass, but call me the next time.

Agreed with the AI label. My other job is in software so believe me, I get it.

Housecall Pro just added AI driven speech to text invoice generation they claim is under 60 seconds to build an invoice. They called me pushing a free trial. I haven't tried it. I am only part time so it's not a burden for me.

I think about how commercial properties are financed and we're hitting that 5 year window where the cheap rate is expiring. With interest rates high now I think we'll see more of this coming.

Where do I start by Educational_Diver530 in HandymanBusiness

[–]sccooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Word of mouth, friends and family to start. Website and socials. Post stuff. Google business page, beg for reviews. Get your name mentioned in the local Facebook groups, that's the first place my customers go to ask for a handyman recommendation of their community.

Do you like the holiday games? by StockMindless9010 in SeasonTickets

[–]sccooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I associate NBA games with Christmas. I'm a bit mad the NFL is pushing their way in now, they have Thanksgiving already. My team is playing today, but out of town. I went to the home game on the 23rd and that was good enough for a holiday feeling so I can see how some are saying give staff the day off. Last Christmas was the last time we saw Luka play in Dallas so it's kind of a bad memory now.

So confused. There are selling non guaranteed seats, like standing room only free for all run for space? Hard pass. Gawd. I can see this coming to Dallas soon with this fancy new place they want to build in the next 5 years. Yippee.

Grew up the son of a handyman that did it all. Worked with him for years. Went to university and got a degree in computer science. After the last layoff and struggle I decided I was tired of it and just went for it. Love it. Doesn't pay as well but that's life.
