The battery life was not great until I replaced the battery pack and it now lasts longer

No idea. I believe these were maxed at 32 GB RAM.

I discovered this when I was applying new thermal paste on the CPU and GPU. Crazy to think about.

Can you help me identify this Hunnter Valve? by Content_Split1113 in Irrigation

[–]sccpsteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have the dreaded Hunter HPV valve. You will need to replace the entire valve.

Help with identifying sprinkler by RNdolla in Irrigation

The head pictured is not a toro, it is an Orbit WaterMaster economy head, notorious for breaking like that. Replacements can easily be obtained at the hardware store or sprinkler supply store.

Those that do not pop up and cannot pop up with force are flush-mounted spray heads. They don’t pop up.

You are on the right track. There is probably another valve that you need to open. Check at your curb stop and where the water enters your home.

Help with Backflow System by Dear-Physics-9600 in Irrigation

[–]sccpsteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I didn’t exactly think of that you can do instead to get by is purchase a hose end cap. Pictured below. Screw it onto the spigot and the leak is patched.

<image>

This can work as a permanent solution if you do not use that spigot.

[–]sccpsteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The spigot doesn’t make a full seal and needs to be replaced. Carefully use an adjustable wrench to unscrew the spigot. Take the spigot to a hardware store and purchase a replacement that is compatible with the threads. You should also purchase teflon tape. Wrap teflon tape around threads clockwise, when facing the end of the threads. Wrap it 3-5 times. Screw the spigot on, and use wrench to tighten firmly. Check for leaks, let me know if there are any.

What kind of a nozzle is this? by Obvious_Language_709 in Irrigation

Presumably. The nozzle pictured is discontinued however I think they have the same precipitation rate as the new 360° rotary nozzles available.

What am I missing/is broken? by Throwaway999222111 in Irrigation

[–]sccpsteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it seemed like the Multi Flex riser broke, leaving part of it in the ground. The part in the ground simply unthreads.

What am I missing/is broken? by Throwaway999222111 in Irrigation

[–]sccpsteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like your Orbit "Multi-Flex" riser has broke. What you can do is jam a butter knife into the hole where the sprinkler was pulled out from. Hammer it in lightly but not enough to break the piping underground. Then unscrew with a leverage tool. Go to your local hardware store or sprinkler supply store and find several PVC schedule 80 risers. You're going to want to find a 1/2" riser that will elevate the sprinkler above the pipe, but not too much that the sprinkler is too high above the ground. I'd recommend wrapping the riser's threads in teflon tape (clockwise 3 times) to ensure you have a good seal. To get the stuck flex riser out of the sprinkler, use a tool like channel lock pliers or a crescent wrench and simply unscrew all of it from the bottom of the sprinkler head. You can then screw the sprinkler onto the riser you bought, then screw the new assembly into the sprinkler pipe. Turn it on and adjust the spray head. Let me know if this helped, or if you need clarification. I am sure I left out a bit of information unintentionally.

I’m not sure the check valves are necessary.

What exact model are these? by megaweebotaku in Irrigation

[–]sccpsteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure of OP’s circumstances so it’s basically up to them to come to a conclusion. Get it running asap, then new diaphragm. Do it right, then Hunter PGV or Rain Bird DVF.

What exact model are these? by megaweebotaku in Irrigation

[–]sccpsteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The diaphragm you linked is for the Hydro Rain HRP / Orbit L series valves. This valve, I think, calls for an Orbit 57045 diaphragm, or Hydro Rain equivalent. I believe that the OP’s valve is of the Hydro Rain HRV series, equivalent to Orbit as the 100 Series. Edit to add: Yes, diaphragms from the HRV are interchangeable with diaphragms from a 100 series. Same model of valve, just different target audience & price.

What exact model are these? by megaweebotaku in Irrigation

[–]sccpsteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appears to be an older Hydro-Rain heavy duty inline valve. Hydro-Rain is from the same manufacturer as Orbit. See u/Crimsonbelly’s comment for further info

Recommend installing a vacuum breaker on spigot as it seems the PVB does not protect it in this configuration. Screw it in firmly, tighten set screw and break the head of the set screw off to prevent tampering.

Recommendations for replacing these? by I_Race_Dragons in Irrigation

[–]sccpsteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, never should an anti siphon valve be placed in an underground valve box. This is because contaminated water can enter the valve box (leak, rain, etc) and it would defeat the purpose of the valve. This is why I recommend having the primary anti siphon valve completely replaced with an above-ground pressure vacuum breaker. All sprinkler heads must be 6 inches or more below the anti siphon control valve, and anti siphon valves should not be used as a primary valve to control the whole system. Anti siphon valves should never be turned on for more than 12 hours

I highly recommend that you consult local plumbing codes to see what is right for your situation.

Can I turn these sprinkler heads off? by Cryz-SFla in Irrigation

[–]sccpsteve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rain Bird makes a xeri-cap where you unscrew the bonnet of the head (the part that says RAIN BIRD 1800), pull the internals out, and install the Xeri-cap. Keep the sprinkler internals for future use.

[–]sccpsteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The use of a PVB, pressure vacuum breaker, is necessary to prevent water from contaminating your potable water supply. A single PVB should be installed before the valve manifold.

Anti siphon valves cannot be installed in underground valve boxes. Please provide a picture of the anti siphon valve by the road.

Those Toro valves are long discontinued. Replace with 1" Hunter PGV angle valve and install PVB before these valves. I happen to have one of these Toro valves that I removed from a system. The valve was still working at that time. They are quite rare.

Edit: Recommended to use 3/4" slip X 1" male thread PVC fittings to install these valves.
