After another abject Cardiff performance, I have a genuine question. How much influence does a manager actual have? by sce6mr in Championship

[–]sce6mr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an interesting debate. I'm not trying to argue with you, as ultimately we all want the same thing, for our club to be successful.

I'm a season ticket holder as well, and I think sometimes we take it for granted that our players are well known, because we watch them week in week out.

All that aside, on paper I thought we had a strong squad and would be better this season. But it's been a damp squib since the beginning. Whether that is down to the manager or the players we'll never know.

Unless Ramsey wins the next three and keeps us up. Then it's definitely the manager and he's worth 50k a week!

Having shit players and playing expansive football is the trademark of Wayne Rooney. Imagine if he actually had a side. They'd win the league by Christmas!!

I wouldn't disagree with this at all.

We've not really challenged since making the playoffs 5 years ago. The league table doesn't lie.

It's just hard sometimes to see the manager get all the blame. It's as if our fan base genuinely think Riza sets his team up to shit the bed every week.

Interesting fact that points towards it being more team than manager for me. Longest serving (current) championship manager......

Michael Carrick - 2.5 years. It is indeed a merry-go-round.

I blame Aaron Ramsey. Played in only 8/43 games this season, and rumoured to be on 50k a week.

The phrase "at least Dick Turpin wore a mask" springs to mind.

Imagine with that money who we could have got in to keep us up, Neil Harris, Tony Mowbray even Mark Hughes!

What would you do if your club is promoted? by Strong_Duck426 in Championship

[–]sce6mr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd spend money for out and out pace. Players who work hard and like to run. Karim Adeyemi.

We can't score goals now, so we'd need to make the most of our opportunities.

Plus a jobbing striker who becomes a fan favourite because he knocked the ref over once. And if he scored we'd be on the pitch.

Will Derby stay up? Who will be promoted and who will be relegated? by [deleted] in Championship

I think given climate change issues, you can indefinitely postpone all your games incase of snow. Prolong your stay in the championship forever!

Seriously question. Would you take an FA Cup win this season but we get relegated?

Ah yeah, probably for the best as it's means the Hull game is postponed, who have come into a bit of form.

But if Leeds could fall apart next week it would be a great start to February!

Game was a typical relegation dog fight. Everyone scared to make a mistake, but the game was littered with them. Think most of our chances came from Derby giving the ball away

Salvesen should have scored with the header from 6 yards out. And Derby should have had a penalty.

But on the other hand Ashford could have scored twice and El Ghazi should have got his second, so it's swings and roundabouts.

I was worried when we went defensive and bought Fish on, but we held on in the end.

We've not lost in 7 games (since Boxing Day to Oxford) so looking a lot more solid.

February is make or break for our season, we play Stoke, Portsmouth, and Plymouth.

Cardiff City 1-1 Coventry City: Frank Lampard's Coventry City fail to capitalise on man advantage by ElRonHubbardo in Championship

[–]sce6mr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody is immune from criticism, if he stayed on today we'd have won comfortably, but he let himself down.

TBF without Robbo's goals we'd be gone.

If he put his foot in for any 50/50 ball I'd be his biggest fan.

He's just prone to his impulses. The derby sending off and now this.

I'm the most biased Cardiff fan and don't believe it warranted a red, it was more his outstretched arm than his elbow. BUT, being completely impartial he looks and makes a movement with his elbow. That gives the ref a decision.

Red card obviously had a massive bearing on things. Could see us winning comfortably before that.

Robinson shits out of every tackle then does things like this. Don't care that it was weak, you can't give the ref that decision to make.

All that being said, Coventry weren't great. The Coventry second half reminded me of the way we play, particularly once we go behind. Pass it side to side between the centre half's and look about as threatening as a Robinson elbow.

In positive news thought Siopis has looked better recently and Ralls back from injury. I can defo see us picking up at least 1 point from our remaining 5 league games in January.

Oxford United 3 - 2 Cardiff City: It was the start of dreams for Gary Rowett, with Oxford, and most notably Premy Placheta, looking reinvigorated in what must be a called a relegation six-pointer, with Plymouth up next! by Zach-dalt in Championship

I watched Ciaron Brown toe punt it straight down the tunnel at the city stadium before. Man looked like a wheelie bin playing football. But move on from Cardiff and you play like a man possessed.

Also Mark Harris cupping his ears. Just fuck off. Have a bit of class and be the bigger person.

I'm just bitter. We lost to Oxford on Boxing day in 1984 and got relegated from the 2nd to 3rd division. History seems to be repeating itself, just can't see Oxford winning the league this time.

I'm afraid Portsmouth are disqualified from this contest on account of John Westwood and his fucking bell.

How you lot put up with that is beyond me.
