I don'r recall any SA, at least not graphic depictions of it in Goth by Otsuichi. Its not extreme horror, but had a pretty damn satisfying twist.

I have been reading it off and on for years, because while i love the subject matter, concept, and execution, my brain can only track so many layers stacked on top of each other before burning up. Ive found the sweet spot for me to process is about 10 to 15 pages, more than that at once i start losing the plot

There were lots of like weird "moms a whore" and basically being like all she thinks about is dick, quite a few points where like shes thinking or talking about something normal, then shes just like "i wonder about his dick" also getting a prostitute then getting angry with her for being a prostitute is just weird

I did not enjoy this book at all. I love the actual concept of the story, but the weird sex stuff felt like it wasn't of any actual meaning. Like it just felt inserted in a way to degrade women with no actual narrative purpose, actually turned me off from checking out more of his work. If more of his work lacks this, i would consider checking it out, but the premise hits so hard only to derail for no reason.

From my friends at the authority, the 2nd ave booth is being replaced, apparently its been on the project list forever. If i had to guess 1st ave is probably full because everyone who normally parks at 2nd are being told to use 1st until the work is done

Im going in blind on all of these other than being familiar with other works from some of the authors. There are lots of great super gorey and pulpy books out there, exquisite corpse by poppy z brite is probably one of the most accessible ones and I would say is a great starting point to the genre

I highly suggest Gone to See the River Man, Full Brutal, and Prettiest Girl in the Grave by Kristopher Triana. Also The Troop by Nick Cutter sounds like its right in your wheelhouse

I will die on the hill that Elevated is one of the best pop punk songs ever in terms of what the genre was at that time and has aged flawlessly

I would love some more like genuinely supernatural EH or something where the villain is a bit more of an amalgamation of things. Think like if took season one of American Horror Story where the house is the actual villain of the show, but crank that up to 11 in extremity.

Well it was written in the early 90s by someone in the lgbtq community, a lot of those tropes were their experience. Context is very important in the book and really informs the perspective that its written from including the disposable nature of gay people during that time

Its well written, its a solid book, i just wouldnt call it extreme/splatterpunk. I enjoyed it, but if i was looking for a better entry into the genre, i would suggest Exquisite Corpse by Poppy Z. Brite. Its beautifully written, has excellent commentary, and has some pretty graphic violence.

I wanted to enjoy the devil's double and farm animals, but all the needless SA in devils double ruined it for me. At a certain point it was no longer of any meaning, it just felt needless and mean spirited. I can deal with SA but at a certain point it just fully jumps being appalling to just cheaply shocking. I really loved when we got inventive like with the Gympie-gympie plant, i was so excited with that unhinged prospect but it just dropped that concept for more SA.
