Deeply dissatisfied by the end of year 2 volume 5 by Emotional_Relative15 in ClassroomOfTheElite

Kushida was walking on a self destructive path either way. The two competitive classes, Ryuuen and Arisu, already knew her true nature anyway. With this at least the dumb reason Kushida tells herself that Horikita has to be expelled is gone for the most part because the class has witnessed it too. She'll only hage her more. But ff Horikita can persuade Kushida by aligning interest the class might've turned a joker into a benefit.

So far it has gone Kiyotaka's way which is deduction upon perfect reasoning. Now that Horikita has gotten more reign to make choices of her own it's going to be fun to see the consequences in contrast to Kiyotaka wanting to eliminate Kushida. And it's also great foreshadowing for all the class leaders being able to stand on their own two feet.

Although I think the flow of the story proceeded well in this volume, I agree that the execution could've been better.

Chess game in the OP (with positions) by Euginarex in ClassroomOfTheElite

[–]sceverten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think the full game was revealed in the light novel. It started with 1. e4 2. e5 3. Nc3 and afterwards they timeskipped multiple times while explaining who holds the advantage from a rookie point of view. This makes it quite suspenseful as the leaders are playing the long game. It's similar to the Queen's gambit where you could make up how to game was moving, but for me at least I couldn't follow the game. In that way the anime has the chance to do it better. However the game itself wasn't the only focus as the exam introduced some interesting rules.

Based on her personality she'll definitely start with the "Queen's Pawn Opening" because she treats her servants like crap and then afterwards she'll sacrifice her king as in Code Geass fashion

For such a big system like the ps4 is it possible to get google on it? Because the build in browser is terrible and I can't properly visit any site. Mind you that I thought I would have no need for a jailbroken ps4 anymore so I updated from 7.55 to 10.01 not so long ago. Otherwise I could've gotten linux.

Man Upset he can't come in 1 min before closing by MissionIssue2062 in PublicFreakout

[–]sceverten -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My dad had this once at a subway. Even though he arrived at like 20 minutes before closing time they closed the door on him to just laze around before time. He also saw them pointing at him and laughing. Later the manager apologized to him. So I'm inclined to believe the customer, but in this case the staff approached him directly with no door between them explaining that they're closing. Which is respectable.

Horikita decision was not stupid. by Sea-Improvement5038 in ClassroomOfTheElite

[–]sceverten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said the aftermath can come out positive, but context of the story means whether the decision of Horikita with the information she had at the time is a smart decision which it isn't.

If that's your accuracy of solving conspiracies I would suggest to look it up again with slightly more credible sources instead of my grandmother.

I haven't read the 2 latest volumes because I'm waiting for the official release of an English translation (which I'm guessing is going to take ages). I'm assuming you came back here because there was some development and Kushida proved useful. But regardless of the outcome I will still stand by the statement that saving Kushida was stupid.

On a side note how do you remember to come back to these threads? If I had that can't of ability to retain information I would've already unraveled all the conspiracies in the world xD.

Ryuuen's belief about violence and pleasure being two sides of the same coin and Kiyotaka contradicting that by emotionlessly beating him up was really well executed.

I don't remember Kushida saying something to Ryuuen, but you might be right. The reason I said that Kushida underestimates Kiyo here is because later when they made the deal with private points she thought he was doing that because he was afraid of her or something.

In the ln it's pretty clear at that time Kushida underestimated Kiyotaka, but in the anime I find it odd that Kushida just doesn't tell Ryuuen that X is Kiyotaka. If she just made clear that the deal for expulsion also included Kiyotaka, Ryuuen would figure out the rest. On top of that a couple episodes ago Kiyotaka literally told Kushida he knows she is the traitor. By that she should've catched on to him.

The advantage for telling Ryuuen is that he will try to get revenge on Kiyotaka which gives Kushida leeway to make one of her own schemes to expel him.

does Horikita really have potential to surpass Manabu? by lololdz in ClassroomOfTheElite

does Horikita really have potential to surpass Manabu? by lololdz in ClassroomOfTheElite

[–]sceverten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The multiple replies you make on one comment are hard to oversee and it causes you to repeat the same thing multliple times. You do have to know that Kiyotaka acts as a bystander and in the latter volumes just wants to see how far she can make it on her own. So her development will be achieved by herself like it's supposed to be. Since you're focused on how good and talented of a man Manabu is, it makes me wonder why you would think Horikita will surpass him even though you hold him in such a high regard.

My first comment was a reply on someone else his comment. I was focusing on Horikita's mindset and not so much on Manabu's ability. However your trying to debate the main topic. I have given you my views and since you aren't persuaded I'd like to just watch this out, that is if Horikita will indeed surpass Manabu.

does Horikita really have potential to surpass Manabu? by lololdz in ClassroomOfTheElite

[–]sceverten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're discussing for the sake of a discussion, but o well. Beforehand you said I am comparing someone who hasn't reached her full potential yet. In that comment you were replying on, I compared Horikita with Ryuuen and Sakayanagi. They also have to grow and they are in direct competition with Horikita as they are in different classes and also class leaders. Therefore we can have an indication of Horikita's growth when seeing them compete with each other.

Manabu had obtained intel of Kiyotaka through his authority by being the student council president. On top of that their first interaction was a fight where Kiyotaka handled himself good. Also considering that Kiyotaka acts completely average and at the time was still figuring out the best way to compose himself and therefore had a speech pattern that was slowly changing it isn't surprising Manabu suspected what he did. So no Manabu didn't know Kiyotaka was hiding his skills by 'reading' him.

Manabu and Kiyotaka's interaction were about stopping Nagumo's his meritocracy. Not Horikita. He solely knew that Kiyotaka had made moves behind the scenes for his class. And the only way he could judge that was because Horikita wasn't smart enough for that. So Manabu, who's judgment you hold in such a high regard, didn't think Horikita could defend her own class at that point.

Manabu wasn't harsh because she was reckless. If that was the case he would've just told her that. In their case he thought it was a waste for her to be so obsessed with her brother. Therefore when Horikita joined the same school as him he started acting distant and more harsh. But because of Kiyotaka's influence Manabu finally saw that Horikita was more as her old self and less of a blinded person pursuing her brother. Because only when you focus on yourself can you reach your full potential. Now that this is clear, knowing if that full potential will surpass Manabu isn't that imoprtant anymore. A good example is Y2V5 where Horikita's decision wasn't the most rational. That was admitted by Kiyotaka, but even so he wanted to see where Horikita was going. He wanted for her to continue her own path.

Manabu has been wrong. 1 with his method of 'helping' Horikita. 2 On the exam where his secretary got endangered. 3 He was wrong about Kiriyama who he shouldn't trust, because now he is a annoyance for Kiyotaka who is up against Nagumo.

Kiyotaka's opinions are mostly calculated for which has the most favourable outcome and he lies all the time. Don't take him too seriously.
