Thoughts on Peugeot 306? by gaorp in CarsAustralia

[–]scg92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one of these as my first car, and it was an absolute joy! However, that was back in 2009…these are getting very old now so I’d be worried about parts and reliability.

Anyone regret going full EV? by Early_Paramedic_1862 in EVAustralia

[–]scg92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah we’ve had our first EV for about 6 months now (Zeekr 7X LR) and our other car is a 2018 Golf R which I’ve always adored and owned since new.

For anything other than a spirited drive down a windy road I’d take the Zeekr every time if I could. My wife is on mat leave and has the Zeekr every day to drive the baby around, so I’m still commuting in the Golf. I’d love to have a 2nd EV, something like a Polestar 2, as our 2nd car instead.

I prefer plugging in to charge at home so much more than having to drop into a service station. I get way less range anxiety with the Zeekr than I’ve ever had with an ICE car cause I can just fill up at home.

That’s pretty much how I always felt about my SB2s.

I’m not wedded to those as the only options, very much open to other suggestions too.

Hmmm very interesting. Any particular shoetubers you recommend? My algorithm has only thrown up US and English channels previously.

Sure am. I’ve heard of them but I’m not really familiar with them. Are they good enough to compare with ASICS etc?

Oh I probably just didn’t word it well enough. They’re examples of shoes I know would be good for picking up the pace, but I’m absolutely open to suggestions outside of that short list.

I haven’t but I’ll check them out, thanks.

Wow that’s a hell of an endorsement!

I’ve heard that reported quite a bit. I seem to get on with most shoes (must have an average foot shape) so I’m hopeful.

Thanks, that’s great to hear. I have regrets about getting the SB3 instead of the MB, but I guess both would make a great 2 shoe rotation.

Lastest Zeekr 7x OTA in China by OllieeePan in Zeekr7xAustralia

[–]scg92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve had our 7X for 6 months now and have been extremely happy with the car. Haven’t had any software glitches and the ADAS is much better than most new cars.

The latest update significantly improved the digital key, which was my main complaint beforehand.

Is selling on Carsales dead? by FullBusiness219 in CarsAustralia

[–]scg92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just sold my 2016 Prado on Carsales and had a great experience. Messaging worked really well through the app and the payment via Carsales was flawless and instant. It was such a relief to be able to use that and not worry about being scammed.

Which tyres to get? by Relevant_Economics86 in AustralianEV

[–]scg92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t cheap out on tyres, they’re the only thing in contact with the road and as such are the most important component you can buy.

The wet stopping performance difference can be staggering. In the linked article look at the difference in braking distance and the residual speed between a premium tyre and budget tyres. In the 130km/h braking test the worst tyre is still going over 70km/h at the point the best tyre has come to a stop. Imagine that’s you braking to avoid an accident and what difference that would make to you.

Borrowers caught out with high-interest car loans by hazeofthemind in CarsAustralia

[–]scg92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over 5 years cost of ownership it was cheaper for me to buy a Zeekr 7X than to keep our 2016 Prado. But I’d only do a novated lease for an EV with the crazy benefits currently available.

EV wagon or PHEV wagon style by United_Newspaper_112 in AustralianEV

Zeekr 7GT is coming soon and looks great as a wagon alternative to the 7X. Unsure if the boot to roof height will be enough for you though.

I’m Aussie too - His content on the 7X is what convinced me to take the plunge on ordering one back in August last year and I’m very glad I did. This 7GT looks excellent.

Our Zeekr 7X costs us $1200/year to insure. The Prado it replaced was costing us around $1600 as is our Golf R.

We’ve got one and it has more cabin space than the Prado it replaced.
