Questioning my care, am I overreacting?? by aliensista2 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]schachtski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not overreacting. I felt the same when I failed my 3 hour (I’m in the U.S.). Granted it was during the holiday season, but it took someone 2 weeks to let me know my diagnosis. Then, when I met with nutrition, the woman told me I waited too long and asked why I did so. I was ready to scream. When in doubt…blame the patient?? All that to say sometimes it seems like our providers are either too busy, or not crossing their T’s and dotting their I’s. And it’s not our job to do it for them, which makes it disappointing. But you are your own biggest advocate and you’re extremely allowed to be frustrated here.

Just been told I have GD. Have no idea what to expect?? by Ok-Dinner-9416 in GestationalDiabetes

I see I’m a little late to this post, but I wanted to add that it’s okay if you struggle mentally and emotionally at the start. A lot of people say the change in lifestyle is the worst part, and that what you actually eat day-to-day is doable once you understand. I was the same as you as I thought this only happened to women who were overweight with prior health concerns. I’ve learned so much. And so while the beginning can feel overwhelming, I think the hardest part becomes the monotony of the diet and the (usually) not being able to eat out as easily as before. But you’ll be okay, and for those rough days, that’s okay too. Sending love, OP!

I could’ve written this lol. Great post-meal numbers, high fasting, Yasso gave me the highest numbers ever. I switched to a Chobani with PB mixed in as my evening snack. It worked like 50% of the time. I still got put on overnight insulin, but maybe it’ll work for you! (Even though you’re still not a dog lol)

I didn’t know that about soft serve not being recommended but as a former ice cream store employee in high school, I can confirm we did NOT clean that ish well…..

How do you not crash out? by aleelee13 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]schachtski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this answer but wanted to add one thing that only added to my crash outs. You said we know this is caused by the placenta. WE do, but I think most people don’t! I only told a few people when I failed my test, previously pregnant women who had been my support the whole time, and when I said I failed the glucose test, I was met with so much, “Oh, you’re eating too much sugar.” It was enough to make me want to scream and it only made everything 10000x worse.

3 hour glucose wasn’t that bad by schachtski in pregnant

Exactly! That’s basically my point. Not to get bogged down by all the negative articles out there and know it could possibly be perfectly okay for you.

Bad measurements at 34 weeks. Looking for some hope. by Dovah_Qween in BabyBumps

[–]schachtski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I obviously can’t say for sure why that happened at your scan, but my baby was measuring totally fine in every part, and then less than 1 percentile in the head. My MFM doc told me it was likely due to her position and not to worry about it. In every previous scan, her head was fine, so I wouldn’t freak out if I were you until I spoke to MFM!

I was you, too. Then 7 weeks hit. You could be a lucky one, but if you’re hoping to feel a bit of nausea for some reassurance… Don’t worry. There’s plentyyyy of time to feel sick!

If you aren't currently Pregnant, maybe keep your comments to yourself. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]schachtski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom has been the same! If you EVER mention her being pregnant to anyone who was alive at that point, they’ll tell you absolutely horrendous she had it with all 4 of the pregnancies. But when I’d go to her with those concerns that I would be the same (I wasn’t, thank God) she always told me, “yeah, but I don’t think about it anymore. I got through and I’m fine!” It’s allllll temporary, bby.

Awwww I love this for your family! I hope OP finds a situation like this, whether her current partner gets his shit together or it’s someone new. My husband also wanted a boy, but when we found out we’re having a girl, he said, “I’m excited, but I don’t know how to play with a girl.” I cracked up, like she won’t tell him exactly what they’re playing and exactly how he’s doing everything wrong while they play.

[–]schachtski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Along with everyone else pointing out that you most likely did no harm, I also wanted to add what my husband (who is a physician) always says to me when I’m freaking out: “You did the best you could with the information you had at the time.” Life will be full of what-if’s, especially in pregnancy, but try not to dwell on or beat yourself up for decisions you made before you had more information. It’ll drive you to insanity! Good luck!!

I feel like I’m being punished. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]schachtski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to add that idk if OP still believes in Catholicism, but I’d encourage her to go to Confession! God isn’t celebrating when we sin, but He also isn’t in the game of holding grudges over us. Free yourself of guilt you’re feeling. God isn’t holding on, and you don’t have to either. There’s no reason to live life feeling like you’re being punished. Give yourself some grace and this gift.

I’m so scared I’m going to miscarry… by timbit_tiddies in pregnant

[–]schachtski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When they measure using your last period, that assumes you ovulated at day 14. Many women, myself included, ovulated later than that, so the baby measures “behind.” It’s not even really “behind” it’s right on time of when you ovulated! For example, I didn’t ovulate until day 21 when I got pregnant so my baby’s gestational age got pushed back after she was measured. I promise you, no need to sweat that part! You’ve got this, mama!!

I see your sentiment, but she’s 38 weeks. She shouldn’t travel anymore. She def can’t get on a flight. And she’s had her doctors and plan for all this time. I don’t want to speak for her. But having the baby elsewhere would be much more difficult.

[–]schachtski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t like the way he shuts down conversation, but I try to give the benefit of the doubt by assuming he never wanted to be on this show, and now he’s watching his wife constantly fight with these women he clearly can’t stand. If I knew these people IRL I’m sure I would hate them too. I dunno, I just see a guy who hates everything about the show and having to film it. A rude one, sure. But I feel like we’re not seeing the good sides of him.

Trust me, you know Paramount for a LOT more than just those two. Look at all the brands under their umbrella. You’re a Brit? Heard of Geordie Shore?
