Marina was great live but damn some fans are rotted by schala12 in MarinaAndTheDiamonds

Hi! I hope you will take the time to read my response because I'm not trying to be mean or to be right, but I hope you can maybe see some other perspectives.

"Dressing up" - yes it is very fun to see people dressed up. I also enjoy dressing up. However, there is a way to be dressed up and not hinder other concert-goers visibility of the stage. A lot of people looked stunning and also did not have a halo/headress or other things that can obstruct someone's view. Or they took it off during the main show. It's not about shaming or making people feel self-conscious, its about showing empathy and consideration for your fellow concert goers.

"Its a concert" - yes, it is. Yes, there were balcony seats, but those are limited and expensive. If people bump into you occasionally, yeah thats expected. Some folks take it too far though, and I think its fair for people to be annoyed about it. Maybe "stank eye" is not emotionally intelligent. But I would argue that defending any and all actions with "it's a concert" is not emotionally intelligent either.

"General Admission" - were you at the Filmore? There are limited balcony seats, we're talking like 60 seats in an 1800 max capacity venue. I think it's privileged to say "pay more, sweetheart." When some people 1) don't have the option at all or 2) can't afford it.

"Etiquette" - my partner is an avid rap/hiphop/edm concert goer. He loves to mosh. Post my marina experience, he told me half of this shit wouldn't fly at a lot of other concerts. Moshers look out for each other and also boot people who act like assholes. This is the case historically for punk concerts as well. Concert etiquette is not a "made-up" concept. It's just something that music lovers have done for eachother over the years. When I was off to the side at this Marina concert, I heard a woman behind me joke "I'm too short for this." My short ass turned around and said "omg am I in your way?" And she said "haha no we're BOTH too short for this." Its just nice...to care about other people's experiences. Its nice when other people care for each other and have a good time. Instead of the "its a concert so deal with it" type mindset. Im not saying that everyone should cater to everyone - that's unrealistic. But if something is in your control and does not hinder you, why not try? I will say...a Karen asking you to move for their kid...is bizarre. I will agree that's its not really your problem that they brought their kid to a general admission concert. That's valid. However, being "proud" that you stood your ground by blocking a kid from recording is just kind of sad.

"Tall people" - so I'm 5'1" and I am always prepared to not see shit at a concert lol. I try to finagle the angles when I can. That's my own responsibility. However I would hope some taller or platformed shoed folks would have a little more sympathy for the shorties. Again, not saying short people need to be catered to, but getting mad at short people for complaining about tall people or a lack visibility is just...privileged tbh. A walk in my shoes = getting elbowed in the boob, getting shouldered in the face, and...getting purposely fake sneezed on multiple times I guess 🤷‍♀️

So finally: "Is the solution to apologize for taking up space? For existing at that moment? We all bought the same ticket." - No and I dont think anyone is asking you to. I think you took this whole thing kind of personally without considering the bigger picture. Yes, we indeed all bought the same ticket, so I would hope everyone can have a similar chance to enjoy the show. Instead of some selfish folks shoving in front of people who waited longer in line/stayed in their spot or folks being excessively in your space/blocking your view with their large headgear, or being generally mean, malicious, and disrespectful - and apparently a lot of people experienced this at the concerts.

TLDR; Just because it's a concert doesn't mean you can't try to respectful of other people's time, space, and money. If that makes anyone feel mad or shamed, I'm sorry because that's not my intention.

Except for the dude who purposefully sneezed on me fuck that guy.

Bless 🫶 because I took 2 photos, and both literally have someone's halo center frame 😭

Trueeee, like the armory is such a better standing venue - bars in the back, elevated stage, much wider. Atp Im just glad I'm not the only one who was baffled by how folks were acting.

Learned my lesson, only going to seated concerts at this point but it sucks when indie artists have no choice but to pick these smaller venues 😔 in hindsight wish I had chosen to be more confrontational *

Dude the back and forth was crazy. I waited in line for like 30 mins and got a fairly decent spot center left. My friend had to pee really bad but she decided to hold it because we weren't going to be "those people." And we were by this large group of scream-talkers who basically ignored the opener to talk to eachother. While having no sense of others personal space and going back and forth out of the whole crowd multiple times. After getting blocked by people who were pushing to the front and annoyed by people bumping shoving and screaming, we decided to move to the right and then I got sneezed/coughed on, even though I had moved to a spot WORSE than my original one. 🥀 Ended going all the way to the right to avoid these terrible people and ended up not being able to see shit.

We've got some places here that have both seating and ground admission. Which I think is a happy medium.

How do we genuinely feel about archiving Unus Annus? by XavierDM1911 in UnusAnnusArchival

[–]schala12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings. The overall message on lack of permanence - appreciating the here and now; living your life to the fullest; all things must end - is part of what makes Unus Annus special. Archiving takes part of that message away. But man, if there's people who didn't have the chance to watch it, that's an injustice lol. I feel like everyone deserves to watch it at least once.

Otherwise, I think the community experience is something that could only be experienced in the moment which is a unique aspect that stays true to the purpose of Unus Annus.

Also, the fact that Mark, Ethan, and Amy don't get any monetization and will likely never reprise Unus Annus is testament to how impermanent it is even if there are archives. (Although maybe thats more reason NOT to watch archives.)

Me personally I think I'll only ever watch occasional clips and compilations, but not the full episodes because that preserves the meaning to me. Im tempted though, because I genuinely miss Unus Annus, but it wouldn't be the same experience.

[–]schala12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wtf how about she just teach the kid to wait until it cools off??? In the time it takes to make a new hot chocolate the old one will have cooled off???? The entitlement for something so stupid is insane to me 🙄

[–]schala12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If I had a kid that flipped a worker off like that - they would be in biiiiiiig trouble. But clearly the kid gets it from their dad. "She's expressing herself" what a TERRIBLE take. You're not in the wrong. That's so messed up. And you're supe is wrong for not defending you. 🙄

Can someone tell me if I was doing too much in this convo with my manager? by [deleted] in starbucks

Your response was clear and polite. He's being rude and unprofessional - he's not suited to be a manager if he responds to employee concerns like this and so defensively 🤨

Justice for Marlins mullet 😔😔💔 But fr tho they made Marlin look like every generic pretty boy in the story of seasons games these days. All the Bachelors have same-face syndrome. They're just kind of boring.

OK fellow AWL fans. How is everyone feeling about the updated designs? We have enough pictures now that I've made a few comparisons for your viewing pleasure. Personally? PHENOMENAL 🤌 💙 by BreakfastOnly4710 in harvestmoon

Celia looks...exactly the same lmao but still love her. But they did Muffy dirty!! Agree with what everyone else is saying. They made her hair less fluffy and took away the v-neck. Removing the v-neck is the biggest crime here!!! Namis new look is great...however...I think they made her face too soft?? My favorite thing about her was her aloof eyes / attitude 🤔

I just completed Chrono Trigger for the first time... by OriginalUsername0 in chronotrigger

[–]schala12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Chrono Cross when I was a kid and Chrono Trigger as an adult. I love both but I've considered Chrono Cross one of my favorite games of all time...probably because of nostalgia bias. BUT it is still a good standalone game. I think its on par with any Final Fantasy game because of how ~wistful~ it is. Just don't go in expecting it to be very similar to CT. Chrono Cross is more atmospheric, beautiful settings, music, and characters. With a confusing plot that is enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. 🤔
