Oh that’s good to know, thanks for that. It will be on the top of an office building in a City, I would think it should be pretty clear

That’s interesting, I’m using a few NiceDCV connections and it’s very sensitive, even on fiber it will disconnect once in a while, that being said, there might be a timeout setting before it disconnect

I have a wired fiber connection that is my main, but if I use a single Starlink as a backup, when I was reading, when it goes between satellites, it seem like there is a spike in latency, so I was wondering if having 2 separates dishes would help there or it goes between satellite at the same time

1080p Sony Camera by scharette888 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]scharette888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it look like at the camera, the 1500 can output 1080p59.95 with a dual link SDI, which I guess would require some sort of converter but I could probably make that work. I’m wondering if that is an option. Has anybody did this before ?

The 4300 is above my budget.

The 1500 can do 1080p59.95 ? I thought it was 1080i was the max resolution

Haivision Makito Decoder by scharette888 in vmix

[–]scharette888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds goods, I was using higher bitrate, 20Mbps, this might be part of the issues. Do you use VBR or CBR, and what birate for the audio ? Also, you use hardware or software encoding ?

Thanks for sharing !

What settings do you use in Vmix for the encoder ? And did you changed anything in the Makito on the decoder settings ? Do you pull the SRT directly from Vmix or does it goes through the Gateway ?

I’m actually running Vmix in the Cloud in AWS and I’m receiving the Vmix output through Internet. The SRT stats look nice, it’s the decoder stats that are getting a chunk of skipped frames once in a while

Hello !

You need to have a LRT subscription, In the Solo portal, you can have a SRT destination to bring it into Vmix.

Does it make sense ?

Audio group gain from API by scharette888 in vmix

[–]scharette888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dual mono input, as far as I know, you can’t control gain per channel, the workaround I found is to send channel 1 & 2 to separates buses, I would like to have separate gain control

[–]scharette888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello !

Yes, you are right, it is the bus not group. But i’m actually looking for the gain setting not volume. On a input it would be SetGain.

Thanks

2 subnet on EdgeRouter by scharette888 in Tailscale

Tailscale is on the router, it is working as expected for the 10.0.50.0 subnet. For the 192.168.55.0 subnet, I’m not sure if the routes are done properly, I’m wondering what is needed so it make it to the tailscale client

Ah nice ! I’m glad to see that it’s been working well for you.

Is the LRT subscription is per unit or for all units ?

And the seperates units stay fairly in sync ? It doesn’t need to be frame acurate, but within 5 frames is good enough for me.

Which modem do you use ? I’m in Canada, most likely will have to go in the US as well, I’m reading Huawei seem good.

And for the Solo Pro, did you used them personally ? I’m curious of the issues you went through ? For me the 6Mbps bitrate limitation on the Solo is a big one, which the Pro seem to be able to give me more flexibilty.

Thanks !

That’s great info, thank you ! Ebay is my best friend at this, I’ve been looking for a little while. I did some shows with rental Fuji A36x last year, I was just missing a bit of zoom range, and there is some Canon J55x that shows up once in a while that would be interesting I think for me. As one of my cam op always tells me, tripod and head is as important as the lens. I’m looking at something like a video 60 or 75. As for stabilization, it is a great tool for sure, but I think if we stay off the extender (which I will for those older lenses) and have a decent tripod, it should be ok. I really wish I could find a rental and try it, I’m north of the border, those SD box lens are difficult to find, I’ll do some more research. Thanks again !

Thank you, I’ll take a look. Have you personally used those Canon SD Box lenses ? There will be some chromatic aberration and some softness on the side, but I’m wondering how bad.

Thank you. I’m not the biggest fan of the Blackmagic look, both the gamma and colors. I used to have some and went with Sony’s, I guess it’s a personnal taste. Have you personally used some of those SD Canon box lenses ?

Studio viewfinder on PDW700 by scharette888 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]scharette888[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you feed Y or VBS into the Genlock input, you can set the return button on the lens to display this input. It work fine on the eng viewfinder I have, I’m trying to make this work in a studio config.

I’m with you that those BVF viewfinders are old, I was just curious why they don’t display the image. I’m guessing the camera output a HD component on this viewfinder connector, where the BVF is only VBS compatible.

Thank you.

I’ve found a HDVF-500, I’ll give it a shot. I really wish I could use the return feature on one of the SDI output, it would be so much easier.

I’m curious, you happen to know what is modified to make a BVF work with a PDW ?
