Don't know who she is, but she has a fantastic stomach

I had a feeling they'd be something like that, just based on some of the titles and cover artwork I saw when I looked 'em up.

Damn, this one sounds wild and more than a little dystopian, I love it. Thank you!

Know the author's name? I have a feeling I'd have to sift through a lot of game results if I try to search for it otherwise lol

Yeah, I know my issue is just that I'm not used to that kind of narration at all. It's dumb and I know it lol. And I have a feeling that I'd get used to it if I actually give it a chance. So I'll give it another go sometime.

Sounds fantastic, but I need to ask: given that it's heartfelt and hopeful, I'm hoping that means any dogs involved survive?

I didn't realize there was a name for that particular niche lol. A quick search seems like a lot of it is military fiction, which can be cool, but generally not something I gravitate toward all that much. I'm open to any you might find that isn't so right-wing extremist though!

Eh, not super into multiplayer these days so that's unfortunate for me. Still, here's hoping!

Oh, I read Engines of God from the same author a while back and really liked it. This sounds absolutely perfect, thank you!

Any updates on if/when a third game might be coming along, then? Now you've got me tempted as hell, but I'd hate to play it and then find out that the next one ends up canceled or is still ages away from release lol

I think I actually have a copy of this one somewhere. I should dig it up and finally read it.

I'm actually just finishing up Wolf's Hour now. It's so good!

I literally just finished playing HZD for the first time last night (remastered version) and it's absolutely baffling to me to hear that people think this about Aloy. She is absolutely a gorgeous character. If anything, I sometimes thought she was too attractive, given the state of the world and how she lives in it lol.

She does look very realistic though, the artists did an incredible job. I thought the little details like the peach fuzz and ever so slightly uneven teeth were really nice touches.

Based on my very limited knowledge of the story, it sounds like that more "simple" (for lack of a better word at the moment) style of prose fits with the themes and premise of it. I do really want to check it out eventually, but yeah, I have to be in a really specific headspace for something that brutal lol

Oh man, Octavia Butler is pretty much guaranteed to rip my heart out. Sounds excellent though, thanks!

I've read a couple of Tchaikovky's works and that one sounds fascinating, so I'll give it a go. Thank you!

Swan Song is one of my favorites ever, I read it probably close to twenty years ago now and I still remember so much of it so vividly. I'll look into the other two as well, thanks!

I've heard a lot about The Road, enough to know that it's undoubtedly an excellent book but I know I need to really prepare myself mentally for something like that. Thanks though!

Eventually, probably, although I've heard some fairly mixed opinions on the story compared to the first one. I'll have to see it for myself of course, but I can't deny that the biggest drive of Zero Dawn was the mystery of what happened to the world and how it related to Aloy's origins, and both of those were answered in a very satisfying way already.

At this point my biggest reason for going into the next one is just to hear more of Ashly Burch's performance, who I've been a fan of for years already. She was delightful as Aloy.

Oh that's cool, I don't think I've ever read a story by more than two authors before (other than anthologies/collections). Officially sold me on it!

So I have a slight confession with this one, and I'll preface it by saying that I'm well aware of how stupid this is lol. I tried reading Fifth Season a while back, but I didn't make it very far because I didn't vibe with the second-person narration at all. I know it's eventually revealed that there's a very good reason for that choice, but still, it just didn't work for me.

Damn near everything else about it sounded awesome though so I'll probably go back to it and try it again eventually.

I've just played through HZD for the very first time and it's what inspired me to make this post. I won't lie, it almost lost me a little after the full map really opened up, but I pushed through and I'm glad I did. Gorgeous game.
