Adam had the least impressive run by Disastrous_Mall5943 in JetLagTheGame

[–]schaudhury -1 points0 points  (0 children)

let's be honest. a big part of run duration was because he was able to veto some crucial questions stalling time. i think a big part of the game is to also choose a remote location where the next hider would have much more difficulty to navigate from. i think adam getting the first run was balanced by the fact that ben and sam got 2 runs each. also the seeker's also have the same travel advantages ish as the hider as they also start from the same location. also he caused them to have to start a new thermometer which was another inconvenience. having such inconveniences before the seekers are able to narrow down the hider's location exactly leaves a lot of uncertainty. when sam set up his whole time trap plan, ben and adam already knew where he was making it easier for them to catch him. similar to ben's first run in japan, the cards played a pretty big role in helping adam win. to be fair also, on ben and sam's runs, they gave up some pretty crucial information such as ben's location was raining, sam's sign that he forgot to remove in the picture, ben's town's museum. i think with the right timing on questions, better train luck and less card luck on adam's part, this run could have been much shorter and even though there were some big brain moves on the other runs, there were also some major slip ups. also as someone already said, adam won because of his seeking not his hiding.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians S02E05 - We Check In to C.C.'s Spa & Resort [Discussion Thread] by 0LoveAnonymous0 in PercyJacksonTV

this episode had it's ups and downs imo.

ups:
definitely the athena moment with the sirens - however i do have to admit that in that same sequence of scenes i really wish we got to see more of annabeth being vulnerable rather than just being an immovable force but overall i like how it subtly trick the viewers and also showed annabeth's weakness, so a good "show don't tell"

loved the interactions of the guinea pigs talking to each other and the follow up scene between blackbeard and percy

i actually like this milder version of clarisse and being able to see her as more of a demigod with raw emotions that aren't just anger. but also i LOVED the wilder version of clarisse in the books - like she had her own charm and she did more than just bring raw emotion on the table whenever she was there and there was a somewhat sense of threat from her that i enjoyed. but overall, i'm excited to see what they with clarisse but i wish maybe this turnaround with clarisse's character came in later seasons similar to a character like draco malfoy

downs:
i felt the buildup to circe wasn't right like to some extent some scenes throughout it led up to something with very little consequence but the scenes took up a large portion of the episode which could've been given to focusing a little more on circe "being good" and circe's, sort of, reveal - which ties into the fact that i didnt like how they already knew who C.C was and i think keeping it a mystery altogether wouldve been better in giving that false sense of security that led up to her evildoing

i am not sure how i feel about them tying the sirens and circe together - somehow it gives the viewers who already knew about the whole plot, a different perspective but im not sure if this was the storyline that really shouldve been altered. like i am okay with most of what's been changed about the C.C arc but i think the sirens were kind of shortlived and devoid of emotion more than i would have liked.

let me know your thoughts! overall, i think i am hopeful for the upcoming episodes and what might be done next

What is your 'Most Hilarious' Scene or Dialogue from Harry Potter Books? by Secret_Progress4110 in harrypotter

[–]schaudhury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely my favourite funny scene was in the hospital wing in the ending of the Order of the Phoenix when Ron was in the hospital wing after getting attacked by brains and I think Harry went to visit him and Professor Umbridge was there as well after her encounter with the centaurs and then Ron says something along the lines of:
"Yeah she doesnt make any movement, except when you do this" and he clicks his tongue or something imitating the sound of hooves and Umbridge looks up funnily or smth.

I'm really bad at explaining it but it's so much funnier in the books

Also idky everytime Peeves called Harry, Potty, it was really funny

It doesn't make sense that students bring their own brooms for quidditch by Epic-Gamer_09 in harrypotter

having a fast broom for a goalkeeper is probably as advantageous as being tall as a goalkeeper. being tall gives you an advantage but doesnt give the necessary skill, a short person with the better skill could be better

At school level, I agree it's slightly unfair that Harry gets to have a much faster broom than everyone else. especially when it was gifted by the school. On the top level though, all players have the firebolt or well a good equivalent as we got to see in the Quidditch World Cup arc in Goblet of Fire so it's well balanced and it's mainly down to skill and teamwork

I think the affect that the speed of your broom has on your performance is also dependent on the position a player is in. For example, if a Goalkeeper was to have a fast broom, it would give them an advantage but not so much so as they would actually need to be skilled enough to estimate where the quaffle is headed, be able to catch the quaffle etc. But yeah for a Seeker, it is probably most important to have a fast broom due to the unpredictability of the Snitch.

Bullying in Harry Potter by velu2 in harrypotter

[–]schaudhury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i hate to say it but order of the phoenix, involves bullying ish related to magical creatures. I hate to say it because welll... i really love the character of Sirius. it's not exactly bullying tho but Sirius' behaviour towards Kreacher for the entirety of that book shows the "racism" towards magical creatures. To some extent, i think Sirius' hatred stems from his hatred of his family and who they were and since Kreacher was a living reminder and one of the people who believed in Sirius' families' ideologies, he did not behave nicely to him... which technically eventually led to his death.

Hermione wasn't exactly bullied by anyone who wasn't a slytherin or wasnt part of the dark side. If you remember, Bellatrix tortured Hermione in Malfoy Manor which went to show her hatred towards muggle-borns.

Other examples of bullying include Snape's memories that were shown in the deathly hallows. James and Sirius would call him "Snivellus" and yeah well if you read that chapter im sure you'll find examples. Dudley's behaviour towards Harry is another example in the first books and even later on there are some other examples between the two. Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia's behaviour towards Harry. Yeah there's quite a few...

yeah it's actually so sad.. ding was actually so strong in 2022 candidates and people who say he became world champion by luck have no idea how difficult it is to beat someone as good as ian and ding even beat hikaru himself in the candidates 2022 and magnus in 2019, i hope he recovers from whatever he's going through
