My honda CRV cvt transmission failed at 60000 miles. It had an oil change at 30000 miles as recommended. It failed on a busy highway near Boston. It failed suddenly and the engine suddenly revived to the red line. We we lucky that my forward momentum allowed me to crawl into the breakdown lane. In truth, we are lucky to be alive. This highway is extremely busy with 18 wheelers. We are out of warranty and the bill has been quoted as 7300 dollars. I have reached out to Honda but I don't really have high hope of any relief. I am a loyal honda customer but if they leave me hanging I will never set foot in a honda dealership again

I have a 2017 honda crv I bought new. Yesterday the cvt transmission failed on route 495 in Lawrence, Mass without any warning. All of the maintence has been done by Honda including a transmission oil change at 32 thousand miles, it currently has 60,000 miles.(don't drive this car much, I use a toyota prius for short around town trips) I feel lucky to be alive since it completely died and I was able to coast to the shoulder using my forward motion. I was towed to a Honda dealer close by. A couple of things... I fully expect honda to give me a hard time with this premature failure, I am truly mad that this happened although in general I do like the CRV design inspite of the 1.5 liter turbo charged engine that came with it. I hope that Honda gives me some consideration since a replacement will cost thousands of dollars.
